How to remove the Hardtop to T-top conversion on a 00 hawk! write up.
Basically what I have got was 00 hawk that was missing the drivetrain and lots of other pieces. I wanted to do something different and build my soon to be racecar. BUt I am converting from hard top to t top. I already had the t top pieces from another build and now need to remove the top.
I followed this thread mainly and a few others but also made my own.

There are a few others but decided to just do it on my own. ITs coming out quite well and not finished yet but its getting there. Im not a bodyman nor do I know wtf im doing lol but its getting there.
Little vids I made of the car as well to show you kind of what to do and more of a tutorial than anything.
If any ?s please dont hesitate to ask.
I have 6 videos so please watch them all! Please subscribe to them as well.
thanks

Yup and I hate hardtops!
You also realize that it lost all of its numbers matching when the guy before me sold the engine, trans, front end, rearend and harness? Hell even the car was painted a different color. It was a silver and now its a dark gray color.
This car is worthless and now for me its worth every penny. Im not EVER going to put the car back to its numbers matching form and sell the car. I bought it to build it and race it. WHy would I buy a 20k car that is stock to tear it apart and race it! I wouldn't

If you don't mind, could you share what the SLP build number for the car was, and if it was an auto or manual originally?
Just wondering, but if you were building a true race car why would you not leave it a hardtop? They are lighter and arguably stronger than a T-top car.
But as long as your happy thats all that matters...
By the way, here is one of the other remaining hardtop Hawks: https://ls1tech.com/forums/vehicle-c...i-540rwhp.html

Ya guys the car was already trash and I would NEVER find any numbers matching parts. Either way it was a automatic and got it from a barn. It was a totaled vehicle and classified as totaled with the insurance. Hence the other reason to hack this car up and make it my way. It will still see the street/car shows and track a lot.

As much as I don't like seeing rare cars chopped, I agree with what Boosted Firehawk did. I would chop it myself. So much of it is missing and wrong, it is merely a body and a number stamped on it. So much effort and time to chase everything down to make it original, then a lot of $$ to repaint and you would never get any kind of profit from it. Plus the stigma of being re-painted / totaled makes the value even less, the car isn't worth much. It's worth what a damaged roller v6 is imo.
Now I personally would not make it a t-top car, I prefer hardtops, but you make your car the way you want it. Don't just conform and go with the masses. Boring.
Now if this was an L88 or Z06 big tank vette, LS6 Chevelle, Copo, Yenko, Nickey, JL8 camaro, then it would be worth building it back.
I still think it would be fun to take a high mileage National and make it a mirror opposite of stock. The uber rare "Albino national" lol. The National purists would cry when I roll up in a white national.
ignore that haters

WOW, the others have said enough! 1st tries to pawn off a 94 formula as a rare purple firehawk with a shady back story of the previous owner giving away EVERYTHING that would make it a firehawk and now cutting the roof off another firehawk with a shady back story? you mr.fake hawk are to tool box... and i liked the " it came with an LT1 rear end" comment in the video

Not to mention that if he would have taken the whole top off in one piece (hardtop and sail panel) he could have got some pretty good cash for it.
#35 was supposedly a white Trans Am, so the vin would be nice to confirm what car it is as we all know T/A could not be had in a hardtop.
