New paint = 'Almost' Hugger Orange Firebird convertible
Just got a fresh pictures from the paint shop and decided to share even though car is mostly disassembled for now. Few more days for the final product, but I'm extremely happy with the results:
The color is called 'Grand Prix' by manufacturer but I doubt it's a valid name. It looks very similar to Scarlet Red or Ferrari Red.
Initially I wanted Hugger Orange but this color is even better IMHO.
What do you think?
P.S. That's how my Firebird looked before - a decent color by itself (Maple Red Metallic) but far away from perfect condition plus I added Flat White elements last year (planned to do the whole car this way but was shocked by impracticality):

Good call on not going flat-that's as trendy as window louvers in the 80's IMO.
Was the interior left in for the whole painting process? What about the engine bay and underbody? I love the color but skipping places like that always makes me feel like the project wasn't done completely when I see a car like that. Just my opinion

No underbody and no engine bay painting yet - these will be done later with engine swap, when engine and trans will be out - to make everything good.
Interior was left except for doors (fully disassembled) and A-pillars. I really see no reason to pay MUCH more to paint the _never_ visible parts.
Though interior itself is a next part of renovation for sure. Just have to see the car assembled to decide what do I want from it exactly.

I still need some work to be done (i.e. proper front wheels and painted calipers, as the most appearance-critical parts), and actually do something each day - but I drive it for a week already. Here are few pics in different environments and lighting conditions (and you can notice some changes between photos, like installed turn signals, mini-CETA, rear license plate, etc.)
The color IS different under different lights - from ferrari red to hugger orange to basically carrot.
Just for lulz (c):

I still don't know what I want exactly from the hood, lol. At first, Seibon Ram Air looks like a great option and weight savings are impressive. But then I realize that I actually prefer the look of clean V6/Formula body (front bumper, hood, no side skirts) over WS6-clone (not to say that I don't like cloning per se).
And after all, my current inspirations for future mods mostly come from Ferrari styling. I was never a Ferrari fan, never dreamed about one and I even not like them now. But as the color is very close to Ferrari Red - I've just searched the web for images with possible interior ideas and then understood that Italians worked out their style to perfection: a more high-class, gran turismo looks. I don't talk about direct copying in any way, but there is a definite yes/no feeling in terms of "Would Ferrari designers put XXX on their car?".
So, as I'm still concerned about weight savings, I'll probably go the custom route and we'll make a hood in 599 GTO style: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_YblkPPWly0...i-599-GTO1.jpg
And I'll surely add front and side splitters and canards a bit later - these fits the look.
Engine bay will be painted flat black. I thought to leave it until the swap, but the more I think of it - the more I want to do it immediately, lol. So maybe in a next month or so - just need to find a free weekend for underhood cleaning and painting.

Not really polishing, but the logos back on. I offer that service if your interested. I can make the decals in any color and I apply 3 coats of clear to protect it all. Check out the orange ones I did on my thread.
