Default Plastic Dipping Sail Panel

So, bubbly sail panel on my Trans Am. Looks like crap, but I don't want to spend 200$ painting or replace it which gets even more expensive.

Tape it off, evenly apply four coats of plastic dip (two cans) for 16$. Done. I like the way it turned out.

Best part is, if you don't like it just peel it off.

Nope, wanted to see how it looked flat and to see how it held up after a few car washes. Kind of blends in with the t-top molding.

+1 on the glossifier. It would make it look a ton better.

I agree with them man it looked much better before now it looks like a paint job where the clear broke down and the paint faded.
But ya know man if you like it **** it!

Plasti dip usually doesn't look bad, maybe you didn't put enough coats??

Might put on another coat sometime, looks good in person though and the few "inconsistencies" that are visible bug me a lot less then the bubbly sail panel.

I think its because your car is black. The flat plasti dip looks like the top faded. Throw some tire shine on it and see how it looks Mine looks a lot darker, but it could be an illusion. I do tire shine mine

Oh, and be careful if you take the tops off, i see you painted where they sit. The plasti dip will stick to the rubber edge and pull up, I learned the hard way, now I don't plasti dip there Just take a razor blade and make a clean cut

Two cans? holy cow batman. i used ONE can on mine, and didnt even use all of it and i did 4 coats.
id say it looks okay as far as plastidip goes, but like everyone else said, it looks slightly out of place on a black car.

Same here, I used less than a can and did 4 coats.

Question to add here: Has anyone painted over plasti dip? Would it still be removable?

Thanks for the pic, do you have any that are closer up with the light reflecting off the sail panel?

Try the glossifier. It should give it some gloss so it doesn't look like an unpainted piece.

I did the grill on our Envoy about a year ago and it turned out real good. It has been through multiple automatic washes and held up great. The problem since we moved though is its gotten dirty from mud and living in a high dust area and I haven't been able to get it clean. So I would give the glossifier a shot but if it doesn't change the texture of it you may run into the same issue.

I have not, but i saw a video where they put clear coat over plasti dip and technically it was removable. But, instead of coming off like a plastic sheet it came off in more like 1/2" chips. No damage to the paint underneith thou and it would take forever to get off.
