Default How can I raise my seats, I'm too short

I've always had some trouble seeing out of my car but after putting a set of 95 cloth trans am seats I sit way too low in the seat to feel comfortable driving fast on a good backroad. I can live with it but I'd like to have it a little higher for my father so he can take it out and drive it a bit, and he's shorter than I am, and I'm only 5'4".

Booster seat? Pillow?

The power seats have a height adjustability feature. You could wire a set of those in.

If you know anybody that is decent with metal fabrication they could make a raised seat bracket out of steel or something.

You could try to get some washers and stack them under the stock mounts. There is a little lee-way for a couple, but not enough to raise it up an inch or more. Do what Tolly said and either make or have something make to lift the seat. At least, if you have a welder or someone at a sheet metal shop do it, they will be close to being the same from side to side.

I'll have to check out my options for having something fabbed up because power seats aren't an option. These ones absolutely perfect so I'd hate to get rid of them, and I only paid 50 for the whole set.
I'm surprised no one really has this problem, I guess short people don't really drive these lol.

My girlfriend's driven mine and she's 5'5". On the other side of that, a 6'8" guy has fit in my backseat. Never really understood height-related complaints with these cars.

You're not alone my friend. When I first got my Firebird, I always used to drive up parking lot curbs while turning since I can't see **** half the time. I'm pretty familiar with the car nowadays, so I'm just waiting to snag a good pair of new seats before I make higher brackets for them.

PS I'm 5'5 by the way. Since virtually everyone of my cousins are considerable taller than I am, I blame wrestling since 12 for stunting my growth. #thestruggle

Parking lots suck a lot, I know the car very well so I can maneuver around in it well by now. Hell I got my first trans am at 18 so I've got a couple years of driving everyday under my belt. It's just the seating position isn't real good when I'm trying to have some fun on a back road, I'm guessing where the fenders are and where I'm at in the road.
Being short blows lol

For the cost of fabbing a safe solution for spacing the seat up, why not source out a trashed power drivers seat for cheap. Then just swap the lower frame to your existing seat. Its real easy to swap out the lower seat frame. Your car should even have the plug hidden under the carpet, theres a slit in the carpet so you dont have to pull the carpet up to access it. Just an idea, as the 6-way seats raise up quite high.

I really actually like that idea, I'll have to look for a trashed power seat. Out of curiosity what's the weight difference between the two?

I have the power 6-way seat in my 2000. It works great. Im 5'8", so I bring the seat up a tad. It would do wonders for you.

I dont know the weight difference, but I would guess they're a decent amount more.

I guess that'll offset the weight loss of the trans am seats but the benefit is kind of more important than a few pounds. It should still be under 3500 with me in it.

I think in your case the difference is negligible. I have never weighed the seats, but I will say the power driver seat is noticeably heavier. If I had to guess I would say 10-15 lbs heavier.

I would be more than happy to add 20lbs to my car if it meant I could see.

Put the 4th gen seats on your stock 3rd gen seat track.

The car in my avatar is my old trans am, I'm asking about my current 94 camaro.
I'm curious though, it's much easier for me to find a thirdgen seat track that a power 4th gen seat for a reasonable price. What's the height difference? I am currently in the hunt for a dirt cheap 4 gen power driver seat though.

My daughter is 5'2" and she drives in my power seats and sees fine. Good choice to go with power seat.

Use a 98+ Trans Am power seat (Firebird/Formula power seats work too, but they are shaped pretty much flat, like Camaro seats with a headrest attached to the top). They have better adjustability.
