Fieroluke- if you're ligit and can pull off this custom instrument gauge cluster off with some cool features and durability then consider me a future customer.

Default Software

Still waiting for the displays, so I worked on the software:

- fixed the bug that caused speeds over 127 to display only half speed
- tracked down a compiler bug (!) that caused mysterious slowdown if some routines were linked (which caused the compiler to access a nonexistent bank switch register, messing with the clock generation instead - very hard to track down!)
- finally put everything into a new subversion repository after my svn server no longer works
- switched to an uncompressed background image in preparation of a new layer merger

Next is the new layer merger, which hopefully will be fast enough to be transparent (no pun intended;-))
Then I need to prepare new uncompressed background bit maps...

Default Wonderful news

Happy New Year everyone!

I got the honeycomb backgrounds, and they're gorgeous!
But for them to work, I needed to rewrite half the gfx routines to merge foreground fonts and background, which I finished today!!! Wohoo!

Here's my debug background with simple gradients (which help me with debugging). Don't mind the dead column, this is my slightly damaged debug display...

Now I need to clean up my code and incorporate the new honeycomb backgrounds. I'll post a picture when I have the new background to show...
So happy!

Thanks for the encouragement!

I also successfully implemented the boot loader back door today!
So now you can hook up the laptop to the USB port, enter a magic number and you're back in the boot loader! The boot loader switch is now only needed to force the boot loader if the firmware is somehow corrupt after an update. This will be very convenient!

Thanks Viper and everyone else for the great words. Followed by an enormous thanks to Fieroluke for his brainpower and time spent bringing my idea to a functioning reality. Without him this all would still be just a bunch of illustrator renderings.

I will be working on sharpening the honeycomb image and making a few more background and splash images this evening.

Default New background

New background... I think it's too prominent, but we're getting there...
