I'm thinking about wrapping my sail panel with carbon fiber scotchprint 1080. What I'm wondering is how big of a piece I will need to order? Has anyone done this that can help me out? Anybody done this that has pics?

 

for a piece that large you'll be purchasing the entire roll width, 5', so all you need to know is the length. brake out the tape measure to see how much you need to go from side to side, and make sure to give yourself extra on both sides, probably at least an extra 8" or so just to be safe.

I want to say it's about 8-9', but I forget. I actually had planned to do mine along with the targa top and splitter, so I had bought a complete 25' roll.. but I changed my mind on the sail panel and used that extra material for other random things..

 

i used a sheet, 64"x8' got it off ebay, its a pain to lay out.

the camaro has the famous roof bubble problem. this hid it very well.

Raven, id like to see some close up, angle shots of the top, showing how well it hides the bubbles, if you don't mind.

 

my sail panel was replaced years back under warranty so i'm good. I want to do my berger panel

 

in for pics of how well it hides the bubbles.

 

I doubt that it would hide the bubbles very well at all.

 

Short term it'll hide them, but long term, no. Several people have tried it and it doesn't work for a long term solution.

 

Not looking for vinyl as a long term solution. Just something that will look Better than the bubbling until I can get my hands on a sail panel and money to paint.

 

its great for short term for sure. the bubbles look like a bubble in the vinyl. some the little ones you wont see at all, if the roof has cracks. they are hidden. my roofs paint cracked as w result of the bubbles.



you cant really see them unless you are really up close, they are still there. and look like a tiny bubble under a sticker. but you would have to KNOW they are there to look for it. the texture of the vinyl takes away from being able to see the bubbles so easily.

I plan on doing this to my sail panel. Any tips on installing this ? I've worked with vinyl before, but only to make graphics...

I got my sail panel from "pick n pull" for like $30. Cut one off a LT1 Camaro. It's black too

How much excess do you have to leave to leave clean edges?

 

Not much at all, i used a 64x84" sheet to start

 

Did you just kind of tuck the edges under the panel? My panel is getting pretty bad.

 

yes i wrapped underneath the edges. it wasnt hard to do since theres plenty of room all around the panel
