approx 3/4" IF you take the connectors apart, and have a small grommet.

you need to do a larger hole if you don't take the connector ends off, and slide it through wire by wire.

Maybe I'm not seeing it, but where do the wires come in in front of the tire?

There is an opening about 3 inches to the left of the battery. You should be able to see it once you get in there.

I just finished the wire mod per your excellent tutorial. Now that I've done it, I have one suggestion about the battery ground cable. I believe that you said that you relocated the battery ground cable(s) from the wheelwell to another bolt near the front corner lens. On my '99 Firebird this bolt is painted. I think that this would make a very poor ground. Poor ground connections can cause some very strange problems to ocurr and be very difficult to trace. The factory ground connection on the wheelwell is a self-tapping, plated stud that is screwed in after the car is painted. This makes a secure electrical bond with the car body.

Just my .02.
Thanks for giving me the "Wire Mod" idea and providing all the great step-by-step photos.

John

John, thank you for the compliments on the tutorial. I'm glad it was able to help you out. As far as the bolt goes, mine wasn't painted so I didn't think there would be any problems with it. You can see a high-res shot of it HERE

My website is down at the moment, but as far as what the mod is, it basically takes all your wire harnesses located on the passenger side in the engine bay, and relocates them to your wheel well so that they are out of sight. Give it a couple of days and the website will be back up and running.

There's got to be a better way to fill the holes left over from the clips and relocating ground wires. I think it looks VERY tacky in my black engine bay. Is there a way to fill them in and make it look like there's no hole there?

Summit sells a grommet kit with several sizes; any decent automotive car stereo shop should have a huge selection too.

5/8" ID grommet and I believe it's a 7/8" hole.
