Default Blue interior lights

I've never really liked all of the red interior lights in my car and I want to change them all to blue. Is this something that is doable? If anyone can point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it. I will be swapping out my monsoon hu soon and the color clash will drive me crazy.

I'm guessing you have a firebird/trans am since you said its red now. That's where your problem is going to be, they have a red film behind the gauges so even if you put blue leds in your going to have a dark purple color. If you look hard enough on here I think there was a write up on how to remove the film

Im the one that posted that.

I wouldnt use blue leds though. Use transparent blue theatre lighting gels in the shade of blue you like to cover where you removed the red. Then use white leds to light the gauges so all your reds illuminate correctly. Since pontiac orange needles wouldnt look all that great with blue, swap to red camaro needles while your at it. Those gels are designed to filter light colors, even though they are transparent the color is very rich and there are probably 20 shades of blue from light to dark.

Yes! This is exactly what I was talking about. I just skimmed through the link. Does it mention where to get the lights from? Just so I don't have to search around.

Here is the pic. I didn't really have the time to scrape the red of the TA face right now, so I used the Camaro. Same effect though once the red film is off the stock gauge.

Blue theater gel over the white parts. Lit with a white LED. Red is not washed out looking at all.

The gel that I used.

In contrast here is a blue led with no filters. For whatever reason it was alot harder to get a good pic. The red is hardly illuminated though.

Theater gels are made by roscolux and a good place to get leds is superbrightleds.com

I'm gonna try the theatre gel method that you have suggested. Is it relatively easy to remove the gauges? Is it possible to do this to all of the lights ie. the stereo and ac too?
