Default Anyone get a Superhawk from Roger lately?

Has anyone bought a Superhawk hood from Roger through eBay lately? If so, how long did it take your hood to arrive? Reason I ask is, I paid him for one a little while back and haven't heard from him in six weeks now. I don't want to raise a dispute through eBay, because I know of the reputation he has on here. I understand if he was running behind or had some issues and I have no problem waiting longer. The problem I have is not hearing from him for 6 weeks now after I've messaged him through eBay multiple times.

Anyway, Just wanting to see if anyone has ordered one lately and it took longer than the 2-4 weeks listed on his ads. If they have taken longer lately then I'll just hang out for another week or two even if not hearing from him still.

I just talked to Roger this past weekend. Says he's been behind and super busy. I guess he had problems with supplies and shipping. I have his number if you want to give him a call or text. But he does take a while to respond at times. Very nice guy and does great work. You'll get your hood, don't worry.

I know there have been several people complaining about paying for the hood and then it taking many, many, months before they get it. I wouldn't worry about him taking your money and you not getting what you paid for, but you may be in for months of wait.

Yeah, I wasn't really worried about him. I was just aggravated cause I haven't heard from him in 6 weeks and my car is awaiting the hood so the whole car can be painted at once. I'd just like to know what's up, being behind is fine with me. Thanks for the info though, I don't want to bother him on his cell if he's busy. I just wanted to know what the status was. Any chance he mentioned how far behind he was?

He said he was hoping to get everything caught up by the end of this week so maybe you'll hear back from him then? Anyways good luck and you'll love the hood!

Default Superhawk

I too ordered a Superhawk hood about 6 weeks ago. I had no communication with him after many attempts up until yesterday. He was having an issue with the material setting up right and not hardeningon my hood. He said he could fix it but could not promise the rest of the hood would be right. So basically he said he was making me a whole new hood and make it right. He very good work no doubt but is slow in communication. BTW is there anybody else waiting on one from the West Texas area?

Thanks John

It took him about 3 months to finally get my first hood, and now its going on 3 months to get my replacement hood. so we are at 6 months total and yes his response time on messages is very poor. He seems like a really cool guy but idk if I would recommend him with the experience I and others have had with him. I have not heard from him since April and he said my hood would be ready to ship out the next week from when he texted me... and here we are getting to the end of may.

I think I'd opt to go through VFN, even if it costs more.

The Quality and fitment of Rogers hoods are 100X better than VFN

Do you speak from experience, or is this stuff you're regurgitating from the internet?

Guys, remember this is a ONE man operation, it takes a while to do and as with anything hand made you run into issues with materials, I got one last year, it took 6-8 weeks but he had a batch of bad gel coat that damaged the molds so he had to fix them and rebuild the hoods made with the bad gel coat.

yes it's a LONG wait and his communication can be spotty, keep trying he'll get back to you eventually (sometimes I had to email or text 3 times over as many days to get a response), when he was doing mine the gel coat issue caused him to have to work 16 hour days for a couple of weeks to get caught back up, so give him a break for not responding as quickly as you want.

I know it's aggravating to fork out that kind of money and have to wait months to get it, as I did last year, but thats the way it is, it will come when it's ready.

I think this is the part that bugs most people. If I buy a product from someone, and it ends up taking 4x as long to finish/ship it out, then I'm 100% fine with that, as long as you communicate that to me. Anytime I sell something on here, I ALWAYS communicate EVERYTHING, as I would want a seller to do for me. I've bought multiple things on this site from people who have been great communicators and I've also bought from guys who never send you a reply to messages, don't let you know when it was/going to be shipped, etc. This is the problem with America these days. It's the lack of communication. I bet 99% of people on here would agree with me on that; if it's going to take longer than expected, fine, but communicate it so the buyer isn't just out there wondering what's going on after he/she has already paid.

Going from a 3" High Rise VFN to a Superhawk. Yep I can say it's from experience.

You build a one of a kind hood for numerous people as a side job and try to get back with every single one of them in a timely fashion and let me know how that goes.

I've been trying to get ahold of him for months with no response. I've tried email and text and gotten nothing back.

I really don't mind waiting at all as long as I actually get what I paid for, but this not responding thing is getting old.

That's strange cuz I usually get a response within a couple days either text or message on eBay/email.

I've tried both text and email and haven't heard anything back at all since mid december.

Every other time he's gotten back to me within a week or so.

I'd just keep trying. Hopefully it all works out for you, and once you get the hood, hopefully it will have been worth the wait.

Default My experience with Roger

I bought an outlaw hood from him in late January, got it three months later. I had similar issues in communication, but I understand it from his perspective.

Far as I know, he is a one man crew. He lines up shipments, does all the paper-pushing, and all the ancillary BS of running a business on top of building fiberglass hoods all day.

WHEN I could get his ear for a minute he explained that the freight companies are always damaging his hoods and despite him being compensated through insurance, he has to rebuild them and is always behind.

All that being said, his hoods are the best of the best. Mine arrived in black gel-coat looking like a mirror in freshly painted black. You could only tell the difference on a cloudless day in direct sunlight that the darkness was ever so slightly lighter. I bolted it on and the clearances were within 1/32 in of stock all around.

Whenever I tell someone its an unpainted fiberglass hood, they are floored. I can post a photo in a lil' bit.
