Default Anybody done a "hood bird" on their 4th gen Trans Am???

So I've been out of the f-body game for a while, had a 1999 Z28 t-top auto and a 1998 Z28 6 speed convertible for a while. Liked the automatic and convertible combo better, ie I just want something that's decently quick, can lay some rubber, and looks fantastic. Main thing is I've been focusing on the look, I just love the styling of these cars.

Anyways, I've kind of decided that I want a base model Trans Am, either convertible or t-top. I know everybody wants the WS6 with the cool hood, but I don't think its worth the 3-5k premium.

Anyways, I've kind of been thinking about a base model black Trans Am, because it has the flat hood, and I can put a huge *** gold vinyl 70's throw-back phoenix on it. The WS6 hood just would not work for such a thing. Thinking about highlighting the Trans Am door badge in gold, doing the front bumper bird in gold, redoing the tailight bird in gold, fill in the PONTIAC rear bumper with gold vinyl, put some torque thrust type 5 spoke wheels with gold spokes on it.

Now I'm not dead set on a black/gold color scheme, red with gold accents would look hot, same thing with white and gold, silver and black would look nice as well.

Anyways, just post up any pictures you have of anybody doing the big 70's Trans Am hood bird on a 4th gen, trying to get some ideas of what I want.

If you do a Google search, you'll find quite a few. I just don't think it looks goes well with the raised ram-air section. If the hood was flat, it looks fine, but with the raised ram-air, it just doesn't look right.

I have the blue one on my 2002 and I love it. Car was pretty boring before. Just Pewter all over lol. I also like the Bkackbird style stripes that run down the side of the hood bulges.

I have a flat black one on black. The 1973 vynil bird fits like it was made for the 98-02 hood.

High Performance Pontiac did and article on it several years ago. It was a blue non-WS6 TA and it looked pretty good. I say go for it, but I would have a professional do it.

Check some of them out. It takes at least 2 people to handle the decal and there is a lot of measuring. Most decals will come in 2 pieces, left and right, so you have to find the center of your hood and match the seams.

The way u describe the whole serup, I think it'd look really good. If all are done clean wud be a good look. Just don't cheap on the wheels and plasti-crap them get em painted or coated. I say do it. And agree have the hood bird done by a pro I can't imagine doing a graphic that big alone with no expirience

The picture doesn't do it justice. When I first saw the picture of the car the bird didn't look that good. But in person I love it and will not paint over it. Just noticed you said birds from the 70's my bad.

That's freaking AWESOME!!!!!!

But way out of budget lol. Yeah, I would have a place that does vinyl graphics/wraps do this for me. Just tossing some ideas around for now.
