Default Installing Sunvisors

This is probably a simple task, I just bought some new sunvisors and noticed they didnt come with the mounting bracket. Do I just yank the old ones off the bracket and slide the new ones into the bracket?

Thanks.

Can you post a pic of what you have? To my knowledge, the sun visors don't normally come apart. They should be an whole assembled unit that you bolt in. However, there may be a way to do it. Either way, pics would help.

I have to wait till I get home, but basically its just the visor / mirror section but not the arm that screws into the roof of the car that swivels, allows you to move / change its direction, ect.

I don't remember seeing any without the arm. I don't think the arm can be removed without being destructive, but maybe someone on here will have a better idea.

Yeah the arms are missing just as you described. I don't remember them being removable.

Yeah. I dont know what to do. These things costed almost $120 and I dont know if I can return them anymore. Im super afraid of tearing apart my old visors and finding out these wont slide in place.

I believe the arm is removable from the visor. I had to do a repair on the mount pad since my sunvisor just dropped from the roof. I did have to pull the mount pad assembly off of the visor. Here is a pic of what I'm talking about.

I went ahead and attempted this on just one sunvisor. I managed to pull the mount out without much trouble but getting it into the new sunvisor is seeming impossible. I'm trying not to deform or break the visor but even with a hammer the mount will not go in. I noticed there is a flat surface on the brass metal arm of the mount. Is that supposed to be positioned a certain way as it's going in?

It's been a while and the mount I removed went back into the same visor. I never had to use a hammer or any tools. I think I did have to twist it around as I pushed in until I found the sweet spot. It might be because your visor is new, I am not sure. When you put the mount into the visor, is there much resistance or is it fine until you hit a certain point? I think I might have used some sort of grease on the pin to ease installation.

While you have the sunvisor mount off, you might want to take a look at them. Eventually, the flared part that holds the spring will fail and your sunvisor will just fall. That's what happened to me several years ago. Check out these threads to see the repair if this happens to you or if you are currently seeing the mount about to fall apart.

It's fine until I hit a certain point and always the same point, it goes about halfway in then stops and its literally like trying to force it into a brick wall at that point it will just NOT BUDGE.

Just for the record, I am posting for general reference since I couldnt find the answer to this by searching. You CAN insert the existing arms into the new visors. It just takes ALOT of shoving. Best way is to wiggle it in while the Arm's flat ridge is facing upward. Its okay to use a hammer to. It wont do any damage. My new visors are in. They look great.

Glad you got them on. I did have to wrestle them in a bit but I didn't have to use any tools or other methods of persuasion. Just keep those threads in mind if any of your sunvisors fall down suddenly. The post with the spring and washer is a pretty soft metal and the flare will wear out. This repair is very simple, cheap, and effective.
