T Tops NOT made of glas
Last time I was doing some dragracing the safety inspector told me that I´m not allowed to have Targa Tops made of glas if i drive faster than 7.00s (1/8).
This is a new rule this year (in Sweden).
I was driving 7.05s this time, but will probably drive faster next time.
Is there any fiberglas, carbon fiber, alu metal etc replacement t tops that I can buy?
I´ve got a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am 1994.

6LE makes them but only do batches of 10 waiting on enough people to be interested to keep the price down.
You could cut the roof part off of a hardtop to use but you'd need to reinforce it some and then attach it to your t-top brackets.
Or (expensive) you could buy the 6LE Hardtop and convert to hardtop OR use just the "t-top" part and attach your t-top brackets to it. You wouldn't have to re-enforce the 6LE roof so there's that...

If you want to "beat the system" just buy some black plasti-dip and paint the stock T-tops so they don't look like glass anymore(then you peel the pasti-dip off and you have your glass t-tops back), I highly doubt anyone would look twice at it and it would be a hell of a lot cheaper than buying some targa roof or some custom t-tops.
As far as actual safety goes there are guys running WAY faster than that with glass T-tops and have 0 issues. That's a really silly rule.

I did go faster and this time I could go on racing. But it depends on who the judge is...

Third generation F-bodies had Lexan T-tops as an option. Unfortunately, they warp and become cloudy after a short time. They are also prone to cracking. Many of them were replaced with glass units under warranty. Fourth generation T-tops were always made of glass. No OEM solution to this problem exists without doing a "T-top delete", which entails using the hard top section from a hard tope and pulling out the center bar that holds the tops in, etc.
