Default Lol Found out why my blower motor was so noisey pics

Finally got around to dealing with the blower motor noise.....leaves all in the bird cage and in the firewall. Car blows air on level 3 and 4 very quietly now. If you're looking for a how to i did a small write up on it on the cars build thread

https://ls1tech.com/forums/chevrolet...y-build-3.html

Here is just a pic of only some of the crap i removed.

I know mine has crap in it (again). Just need to take the time to get it out of there (again).

Gotta be a way to keep that crap out of there.

Yeah it would be nice to install some sort of screen at the beginning of the black hole that doesnt allow the crap in there.

Once you remove the birdcage stick your arm way up in the tunnel to get the rest. I found 3x's as much inside the firewall. If you only do the blower/bird cage it will fill back up sooner I would imagine.

You could always do this to help keep **** out of the fan: https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-m...cares-lol.html

Granted you'd still have to clean it out just as often.

I was able to remove mine and expected a bunch of leaves but there were only a couple. Then after manually spinning the motor I can tell the squeaky noise culprit is from the motor itself, and not debris inside of it.

Is there a way to open it up and possibly lubricate the shaft inside? I can't figure out a way to take the clear finned part off of the actual motor itself.

Im not sure. I know I saw a write up somewhere about repairing that/deleting that noise but I also remember people saying it's better to just replace it because that noise will come back sooner

I don't think so. Exhaust sound is one thing, but that really high pitched squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee from the blower at low speeds is downright obnoxious.

Yeah, mine does it too. Wish I had saved the blower out of my old 98, it never made such a racket!
