What do you guys think of the dusk sensing headlights?
I'm curious what the rest of you Camaro guys think of the dusk sensing headlights. I guess it's a nice plus to never have to worry about them, and I will say that I am ETERNALLY grateful that GM took them one step above most of their other vehicles in making the parking lights the only DRL's, and having the headlights off completely until dark. Regular DRL's would look ridiculous on an F-body and **** me off daily. The only thing that irks me is that I wish the sensitivity was slightly less. I find early in the morning or late in the evening, even some gray afternoons they kick on when I'd be rolling with parking lights only. Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity?

I've made my peace with them over the last 5 years. I hated them at first, especially when I was going into the local drive-in movie (headlights are strictly frowned upon) and couldn't switch them off. In a pinch you can leave the parking brake up one notch to disable them, but I only do that sparingly plus you have to turn the car off and then on again. Other than that it is an ok feature. I would imagine to change the sensitivity you would need to be able to change the resistance of the circuit in the sensor. (and I have no idea how to do that.... maybe an electronics whiz can chime in.....)

i think it's great. i don't even think about putting the lights on any more. and if they're automatic, you don't have to worry about forgetting to turn them off and find out that you have a dead battery in the mall parking lot

I got tired of them on my Z. They'd come on and go off alot when the lighting wasn't too great. So I just bypassed the sensor. Problem solved. Plus, you can run just your fog lights w/o the headlights coming on if needed, like at the track.

I cant stand that. There's too many times when I want to run with no headlights, for... uh... various reasons. I am going to shut of the sensor pretty soon. I'd rather have full control over my lighting situation.

I like it. Although there have been a few times I've forgotten t lights on in other vehicls simpy because I never had to do it on the SS. Only thing I wish they would have done, is allow you to defeat it like I can in my 02 Silverado. In my truck, I hit the overhead overide button 3 times before starting, and I can manually turn my headlights off if I choose once they turn on.

I removed the Sensor for the Auto headlights on both of my Z28's with in the first few days of ownership. there needed to be an overide function to begin with.

My dad has an 00 S10 Blazer that has DRL (headlights though) that stay on all the time. He has a button that's labled "Dome Override". If you push it 3 times the lights will go off.
Dunno if Camaro's have that and if any of you guys wanna try it next time they pop on when you don't want them on.

Theres a jumper mod for this. I did it to disable DRL's and auto headlights. You just have to do a search and get the way to do it. There's a box behind the radio. You have to open it and run a jumper between two of the leads. I can't remeber for sure, but if you do a search, you'll find out how to do this mod.
