removed door molding today

removed door molding today just got done and i am pissed. i guess my driver side door was painted b/c you can see where the molding used to be. you can see and feel the difference in the paint. i'm just trying to figure out what to do now. on a good note the pass. side looks great. but the drivers side is making me wish i never took it off 
i'm thinking maybe i should put it back on. if any body has any idea's please post them up. thanks ahead of time. i'll be in O.C. this weekend and wont be back till sunday. thanks again chris

The only thing I can tell you is put the molding back or repaint the door. I pulled my molding off yesterday and thankfully mine wasn't repainted or anything.
I have got a blister from hell on my thumb now.
Is it the same color? Have you tried claybaring it?

yea its the same color(thank god) no i havent tried the clay bar yet but i will when i get back from ocean city. the adheasive came off really easy for me so no bilsters, but i do i a F'ed up door
Is it actually paint or just clear coat? If it's just clear coat over spray a body shop can wet sand it level and you'll never know it was there. I had to do that when I took the badges off my Silverado.

hmm, find out where it was painted...bet they didn't take off the molding like they should have. They should fix this for you. You can get a carfax and I think find out who owned the car before...or check with the DMV.
Is the it only the paint that was under the molding itself that's darker, or the whole lower half of the door? If it's just under the molding itself it could be do to the fading of the paint around it. If it's a different color all the way down it sounds like the door was repainted and instead of doing a proper blend they cut the line at the molding. It's hard to find good body shops these days. I would still swing by a reputable body shop though, I'm sure you still have options. And alot of body shops are still only charging $40-50 and hour so it shouldn't cost an arm and a leg.
