Default What did I do wrong ???????

Well tried to put on my Blackbird stripes tonight, they came out looking like absolute ****
Followed the enclosed instructions to the letter, and they just didn't look right, bubbles, and it seemed like there was some dirt between the decals and the hood (washed the car prior to install)
So am I just expecting too much from decals, or is it possible to have them look good ???????

well its possible for them to look good, you just really need to know what your doing. i work at a sign shop and put on vinyl graphics all day, and they can look real nice. if you never done it before, or did it and came out shitty, you can probably bring it somewhere and have it done. the bubble are air bubbles, just pop them with an exacto knife, as for the dirt under the sticker, well your **** outta luck.. you got to make sure there is absolutely no debris on the surface. so if you were to do it again, just make sure to take your time, and take it slow.

Use some soapy water in a spray bottle. I did that when I had the Manta style decal and the soap caused it to not stick right away and allowed me to position it in place. Let it dry for a few so the decal can stick just a little and use a towel and work the air bubbles out to the edges. Diddo on the use of an exacto knife to get those stubborn air bubbles out.

I trimed mine on the top edge and taped it to the hood exactly were I wanted it. Then I fliped it up and pulled off the back and sprayed it with and alcohol & water solution.
Then fliped it down on the hood and pressed the bubbles out. The trick is getting the other side in exactly the same place. I measured in about 4 places to make sure it was taped correctly. Pics of mine are at:

I cut mine out so it was almost just the stripe Not much of the backing paper was left. I used a spray bottle with soap and water mix. The 1st set I did came out ok they would have looked geat if I had lined them up better. The second set I did looked great, a lot better than the 1st. This last set I did came out the best so far. I've had people ask if I had them installed by a shop. It takes some time but you learn little tricks each time that makes it easier. Do you have any pics of the problem areas?

Another problem I've seen guys have with this is doing it outside. Maybe it goes without saying, but as much as I've seen it, I thought it was worth mentioning. All of the above tips have brought me success also. Tape it, position it, get it wet as hell, and squeeze the water/air out from the center. Oh, and post pics when done!
