Best way to remove window tint?
Best way to remove window tint? I am getting car tinted tomorrow and would love to save the $$ he is charging to remove the old tint.
Any good methods anyone knows of?

Blow dryer/heat gun and some sort of solvent and a razor blade work good, just be careful and take your time and you wont scratch the window. The tint itself is fairly easy to remove, its the damn glue that seems like its harder than cement.
Be EXTRA careful if you're taking the tint off the rear hatch w/ a defoger on it. Those lines are very sensative and will be cut very easilly w/ a razor or any other hard-edge line. For that part REALLY take your time if you're using a razor!

Woah woah woah, hang on there a sec... The hatch is the biggest pain in the.. yeah.
Do not start with it at all yet, get a black plastic bag, tear it in half (so its a big piece) and put it on the outside of the hatch, let the car sit in the sun and spray amonia all over the inside of the window (tint side)... You want to start with one corner, DO NOT let the clear film seperate from the colored one...

Drivers window came off as one piece, got razor under a corner and pealed the whole thing off right to the glass.
Passenger side I got about 2/3, then had to scrape off the rest.
Hatch glass came off as one piece right to the glass except for the little strip when the dots are at the top. Got that with razor.
Guy putting on the new tint wanted $ 60 to remove the old tint, took about an hour for me, better in my pocket than his !
