This counts for both CETA and Berger people as it's the same basic concept. I recently had my rear bumper painted CETA style. I've got the factory PPG Bright Red paint, and we painted the CETA style in gloss black. I feel like the gloss black might be "overpowering" the red paint and that it might look better if it looked more like trim (ala Grand Prix) rather than such a strong contrast (like the gloss black is).
If you can, please post one picture of the rear of your car, tell what sort of paint you used (flat, satin, gloss), and how it was applied (spray paint, paint gun, etc). If you could also tell whether you painted it yourself and what prep was involved, or if you had a shop paint it and how much it ran you. Thanks a ton for any help.
My buddy painted this for me for a very reasonable price, so if I decided to change colors all I'd have to do would be to buy the paint and clear and him and I could change it again. I guess I'm trying to figure out if I want it satin or flat. The gloss is just too much contrast IMO. If you look at the Grand Prix they have the part around the tips painted, as well as the CETA did, but neither are gloss. I just dont know if its satin or flat. Thanks again for any help.

Extra panel for free, painted with 3 cans of low gloss black engine enamel by duplicolor and cheap primer under that. Sanded with 400 first then 800 then painted and wetsanded with 1000. Total cost about 30 bucks, I did it myself.

Thanks guys. Both look good, but it also is helping to reaffirm what I'm thinking looking at my own car, gloss black is just too overpowering, and a flat black looks really nice. It washes the red out almost. I found this picture through a search and it's flat black with clear. It looks much better than what I currently have IMO.
Flat black with clear, no idea how it was painted though or cost:

Mine (for reference, gloss black with clear, paint gun, friend prepped and painted for $30):

I personally love the gloss black. I think it gives a great contrast and still keeps up the sharp look with the glossy paint. I don't really like how the satin black looks, I think it seems unfinished and like someone simply forgot to clear over it. But that's just me! If you search for "berger tail panel" on here and LS2.com, you'll find the names of many satin paints that will give you the look you want!
Good luck man.

Background: I pulled the bumper off and had it painted off the car, so the bumper was really clean. The rest of my car however was very dirty so it just didn't look right. I cleaned the car up really well this weekend and now the gloss black really has a place in the car. I think flat black would take away from the taillights. My taillights could use some work though. I think a little wetsanding and polishing, followed by a shot of clear should do them up nicely to really help tie it all together.

10-4 on keeping the gloss. It works better with the taillights IMO. My calipers are gloss black also and so will the PONTIAC fill ins, so it'll tie it all together. Just took a good cleaning to realize it.

just take off the 2 plastic wignuts holding each of your lights in. You have to take out the spare tire to get to the passenger side one. Then there are just 4 nuts that hold it on. you can have it off in about 10 minutes.
