Shorten my stock antenna?

I have a shorty antenna, I think it is a 12" that looks factory. Reception is garbage, only the strongest stations come in without static. If you listen to a lot of radio you will not like it but I just listen to my own stuff or the engine so I like it. It looks way better.

well honestly, i hardly ever listen to the radio since i have my ipod in my car, and when i do listen to it, its only major stations. so i might give it a shot, if it turns out like crap, or the reception is to poor ill pickup a new one from bitviper.

I cut mine down to 8" or 10", can't remember for sure. Same radio reception I had before. I do have another full length antenna as well in case I drive it out of town occasionally.

I cut mine down to exactly 12" and I saw absolutely NO change in reception.
Also, I do not live in or even near a town/city and the stations I listen to the most are quite distant from my house.

Actually adout the optimal antenne (sp), there is an optimal length for each station. so if you want a shorter antenne then figure out which station you listen to the most, and cut it to that length. I learned about this in physics, we had a navy radio opperator for a teacher.
