I'm painting the manta pattern on it, or shall I say not painting it on... I'm completely against a unpainted CF hood on any color other than black, but I do think that CF looks good... I'll be posting pics as soon as I get some, I'll probably snap some Friday when I take the car in, just to demonstrate/check fitment. As far as I know, there isn't anyone on any of the online forums that has this yet, so it'll be helpful to give people some idea of the result. Now please, limit your bashing, if you think this hood makes my car rice, let's go square it off at the strip.
That sounds great. Im curious to see what it looks like. Any chance you can take some pictures of the underneath? I want to see if it is really a carbon fiber hood or just a fiberglass with carbon fiber layer ontop.

And just so you all know, you can buy any hood VFN sells in carbon fiber. So instead of getting a low quality ebay hood, you can get a top notch, high quality hood from VFN.

VFN ftw

but they have 2 diff cf hoods (at least for camaro's)...1 is a "show" hood, real shiny/glossy cf that you don't paint and is heavy as a all hell; the other is an unfinished (no gloss) and meant for racing purposes, it is true cf, meant to be painted, and light as hell. if i remember correctly, it is also ~$800

Straight from them.

damn, last i talked to em about it (about a year ago), they said it was about a month or 2 wait due to the shortages, thats dissapointing

I'm pretty sure that the stock hoods are fiberglass layes over a steel skin, still lighter, and still capable of breaking, but they do have some reinforcement.

Anyone know what a stock ss hood weighs? I'll go get the weight for the CF hood Monday, but the shipping was only for 24 lbs and change, minus the box and foam... I'd bet money that there's a significant weight loss.

Oh, and btw, it's solid CF, I'll take pictures of the bottom, unfortunately for some god foresaken reason they painted the underside black, but under sun light you can still see the pattern of the CF, and there's a strip lef unpainted. I may try to have the paint stripped from the bottom and then re-clear it... I'm wondering if maybe there are some steel supports that they were trying to hide, we'll see. Hood gets fitted tomorrow, pics will follow.

Some people are insecure? Some people like chrome, some like carbon fiber. Different strokes for different folks.

It can be painted tho and its light so I dont get how you cant like it. If it was so ghey why do they use it on the f35 and lots of other jets. I guess a ferarri enzo is ghey too and the c6r vette. Oh and the c6 z06 cause it uses it also.

What's wrong with a CF hood? Paint it and it'll be fine. I'm waiting to hear on the fitment of the hood. I might be interested.
