I think it would look good with an inverse manta (paint the hood and leave manta c.f.)

I would get it and not paint it, cause im RICE like that.
I think it would look alright on a black car, but only on a black car.

Its probably not even lighter then a regular f/g hood. What a lot of companies do, especially these ricer companies, is that they make the hood from f/g and add a layer of carbon fiber ontop to make it look like a cf hood, but it really isn't. To have a real carbon fiber hood made is pretty expensive.

Nothing wrong with carbon fiber as long as it is painted. It's a nice light material. I wouldn't buy anything from Octane motorsports though as they have terrible customer service.

I'll probably get blasted for this on here but I've sent the seller a question asking him how much it weighs. If it's a significant weight savings I'm going to get it. I got a CF hood for my Stealth TT and haven't even gotten around to painting it yet. It saved about 30 pounds. If this hood saves weight like that over my stock SS hood, I'll put up with the ridicule from the masses for having it on my car. The unpainted CF hood on my Stealth is actually starting to "grow" on my anyhow. Ricey? I don't care. It was part of a weight reduction program that ultimately took 600 pounds off the car. I'm trying to duplicate this weight loss on my SS and this may be part of that program. For those that care, I"ll let you know the weight of it when I find out that info.

Has anyone seen or found a ram air trans am hood made of carbon fiber???!!! I have been looking for one for quite a while and not found one. I saw one a few years ago and it was very nice. Haven't been able to find one since.

Why the hell would anyone want a carbon fiber hood. EVERYONE knows that all strong, high tech, weight saving, attractive materials are for ricers! Just like DOHC, turbos and anything even remotely related to aftermarket appearance. We drive american cars so you have to have only chrome...and chrome everything. In case you couldn't tell, that's sarcasm. CF is great and I love that hood...my full cf interior is about 30-40% done.

IMO the only thing you can do to make a Z28 ricey is to be born in China.

Hey, I was born in Korea, but I drive a Formula. Does that make it rice? Just messing.

I don't know why everyone associated carbonfiber with being a ricer. Sure, most ricers have fake CF tape on something, and cheap APC cf hoods. But there are a lot of quality carbonfiber peices out there, but they aren't cheap. I guess the CF body of the Mercedes SLR is rice, the CF body panels of the Corvette Z06 is rice, the CF peices used on race cars and Ferrari's is rice.

It's just preference. Some people like chrome, some like CF.

Same EBay seller says he's got a rear hatch for sale. . .wonder how much weight it honestly saves between the hood and hatch. Says uses same glass. Wonder if the SS wing is available in carbon. . .call it rice all you want, but saving 40+ pounds and looking stock (with paint) don't sound bad (unless you count spending 1200+ to do it...)
