Default Detail: 2002 SS

so i got my DA G100 polisher and other goodies in the mail the other week, so i put them to the test on the SS:

my process:

2 bucket meguiars gold class wash
megs claybar
M83
NXT

i was going to use some M26 before the NXT, but said **** it b/c i didn't have enough pads or patience..and the 83 was lookin gorgeous

some nasty swirls on my black hard top (no before pics of the silver..i mean come on, it's silver, you can't see **** anyways)

ok so i lied a little, this is the front bumper with just wash/claybar:

M83 on!

swirls, what swirls? NXT on

ya, i have long hair, and was sweaty..get over it!

for those who are wondering...on my hard top and sail panel, the clear coat was MUCH softer then the rest of the car. i was able to get almost 95% of the deep scratches/swirls out of it compared to the other scratches i have in the silver..if i spent more time i think i could have gotten my roof 99.99% scratch free...but then i'd have the ******* bubbles. gettin the roof swapped this summer though

thanks

it was at a body shop here in so cal, they closed this time last year though

i'm sure kruse-lucas in modesto can do it (not sure if i'd trust them to do it though), and in oakdale theres a guy that does amazing paint/body work for a good price, i forget the name, but if you go to modesto and get on the 108 east going towards oakdale, when you get into oakdale at the main intersection (right before the train tracks) turn right like you're heading to the hersheys factory, and his shop is a little ways down on the left side

I'll fly you into Il, to do mine.

great job man, silver cars looks clean usually, but once you claybar and polish them up, they look brand new. Great looking SS, love the CME.

Looks great I just bought a Porter cable an all the **** to go with it. You did not start with 83, then go to 80? I'm going to do it for the first time next weekend. Still waiting for the #80 to come in from Autodetailing solutions .com.

nope. 83, is a dual action cleaner and polisher, so you technically don't need another polisher after the 83 application..but if i was going to go to a car show and show the car, i would do 83, 26, then NXT FOR SURE!

(80 is more durable then 26, and 26 looks better then #7 IMO )

i hope you have a lot of 8006 pads b/c i used 2 with just the 83 (probably didn't need to, but i did, oh well), and only needed 1 9006 pad with the wax

oh ya, this is one hell of a workout the the DA!

a couple of comments ..

Most of the time, it is a good idea to follow # 83 with #80 due the slight micromarring that #83 usually causes. It is not as big an issue with the Fbody clear, due to how hard it is.

#80 has no protective qualities to it at all.. neither does #7, or #83, for that matter.

when using both a synthetic and carnauba, the carnauba should always go on last .. in this case .. NXT then #26. that way the carnauba willgive you some color depth and a little extra protection .. also knocks down the saran wrap look that some synthetics have ..

so the order would be :

#83
#80 (if needed)
#7 (if used)
NXT (or #21)
#26

My plan was
Wash
Clay
#83 w/8006 pad
#80 w/8006 pad
NXT with a 9006 pad

Are you saying I need to put another coat of wax over the NXT? If that's the case I should just use the Gold wax.
