Default Squeaking noise from the back of the car.. WHAT IS IT?

It's driving me insane! It's somewhere in the back of the car. I thought it may be the latch for the hatch, so i sprayed down WD40, also all in the area where the jack/spare tire is as well. Anyone ever run across this? Iv about decide to just start taking out carpet and everything and WD40ing the entire rear of the car... anywhere that metal is touching metal. But thats a lot of work, was hoping someone had run across this before and found out the cause of it.

Thanks

mine was doing the same thing, the spare tire was loose. Also, do you have an after market PRH?

Put the rear seats down and see if that makes it go away.. I have a squeak also, and thats where its coming from.. the latch.

Yes, i do... It doesnt sound like it's coming from outside of the car... but i guess, it COULD be?

I'll try putting the rear seat down as well, but it sounds like it's coming from further back than that.

Thanks for the suggestions

I have the same thing and I can't figure the damn thing out! Sounds like metal and we thought it was a exhaust clamp but checked everything under the car....everything was tight as can be. I checked the spoiler..tight there. Its annoying. Even when you close the hatch you hear it and it sounds like its coming from under the car. In fact I know it has to be because with the windows down I can hear it echo off buildings when I'm passing by one close or other cars

Umm... i think we may have 2 different issues here. Mine only happens when the car is on the road. I cant get it to do it just sitting still. Something is vibrating and making it squeak.

Try the upper shock mount bushings, I lubed and tightened and no noise.

Question

I MAY have the solution......mine was driving me nuts..thought it was springs or new Bilstein shocks..finally got mad enough while cruising..got out and looked..stood on me right rear tailpipe a couple times..same with left..do not know what made me do it all of the sudden like that..drove away..fine..stopped and looked....pipe was juuust touching the frame and rubing very lightly..and I mean LIGHTLY..hardly a mark at all.....been fine for 2 months....check it out..g'luck.

man.. i hope this isnt something happening underneath the car. I'll have to get a friend of mine to drive it while i explore the back of the car. I was wondering if it were possible for it to be something b/t the inside of the car and the tail lights.... but i dont think theres a lot of metal in there.

I recently had this happen to me. After taking the back interior of my car out twice, I finally had my dad drive my car with me sitting in the hatch (cause we swore up and down it was coming from there). Started to take it out a 3rd time, and while doing so I lightly kicked my exhaust tip and it made that clunking/squeaking noise. Turns out, a weld on an exhaust bracket had broken off, causing metal to metal contact. Welded back up and now I'm squeak free

My tail lights squeak. Go lightly pound them and the filler panel and see if they make the noise.

Yeah I was about to say my rear hatch rubs on my drivers taillight and squeeks....its soooo annoying....I put a spacer on the taillight to bring it out a little more from the rear hatch...

MY PROBLEM FIXED.

Mine squeak where the taillights go into the body. I can't find a permanent solution to fix mine.

look for stock lca.s and phb, and the shocks. if the bushings are worn out where they bolt to the body of the car. I had to replace mine and it stopped
