Hey, what about some 2x2 tubing and make an X shapped brace? Just mount one in front of the other and weld them together. 2x2 should be easier to get than the 2x4. Ehhh, might not look that nice. I don't know, any ideas?

I like it alot, its a car built to your tastes, and thats what modding should be, making the car suit the owners tastes.

u really wouldnt need anything 2 heavy
even round tubing would work
make it bolt in so that it would be easy 2 work on the car

whos car is that in the pic?

I just did a search on Air Ride and saw this thread. That car is sick man, props for doing something different. I love the slammed look and you can't get much better than that.

If I had the money/time/fab skills, I'd do the same with my SS (minus the body kit, sorry).

Don't hate because he did something different

I've been waiting for someone to do a build like this. I like to see different styles - looks sweet, and nice work!

I read the first couple pages, but then skipped to the last 2, so I don't know if anyone asked you this, but are those 20" Intro's?? Look the same as on my friend's '66 drop top Chevelle, seen below:

For those interested, I should be recieving some Universal Air front Strut bags to see how they fit on a stock style shock. They are hollow in the middle so fabrication should be minimal compared to Slammed1500's radical reworking in the front.

I should get them today or tommorrow, but it might be a few more days before I can remove one of my shock assemblies to test the fitment around the a-arm and frame. These should be the ticket for folks who already have good shocks on their car like Bilsteins or Konis.

Damn, if it weren't for that master cylinder I'd just chop the top off the fender well and raise it 2 inches. So right now I'm thinking the best thing to do is to see if I can shorten the top of the steering knuckle 2 inches. I've got a specialty welder who might be able to do that. Then I'll just change out the upper shock mount so it's higher. I may get a little fancy and design it so I can adjust my Koni shock from under the hood. The suspension geometry should be pretty much the same as your car. The lower a arm will be traveling higher so I may have to tweak the lower ball joint angle. Did you have to do that?

i ended up going with mid lengths. the long tube would have been 2 much BS
had 2 cut the y pipe in 8 diff. sections 2 tuck it up enough and notch the 2 floor braces on the driver side
and then i had 2 run it under the rearend
