Kenny, I was thinking about how to do the rear suspension. Since I'm getting rid of the rear seat, what if I were to make some new lower control arms that were longer, stronger and mounted a little more inboard? It would probably soften the ride as well as give me full up and down movement. I could also play around with the bag size (6 inch to 8 inch) as well as the amount of leverage it has. What do you think of this idea?

that would be a good way 2 go
rearend wont move front 2 back as going up and down, more travel and better ride
might lose a lil handling performance
but it wouldn't be that hard crosmember from subframe connectors for the front of the bars and then a crossmember fot the top bag mounts
almost wish i would have done this
and use still can use the T/A

OK, I think that's where they were located on the LT1 cars or was it the 3rd gens? One of those.

Do you have any info on what all the lines are for? I haven't figured out each one yet. I need to.

Hey Kenny, I've been having some cool ideas lately. I came up with an idea to keep the stock rear suspension AND add those longer arms to mount the air bag in front of the axle. The key to prevent the new arms from binding the stock suspension is to mount it to the axle with shackles. Since I want to relocate my gas tank anyway, I could even have these 2 new arms behind the axle.

Nah, it will work. All it's doing is pulling the axle down.

Or you could weld on a couple links of big chain.

with the tunnel brace mount T/A like i have
and with a shackle on the LCA's it will allow the rearend 2 move frount 2 back
nothing will be holding it
because the T/A that i have has a shackle on the front of it also

You misunderstand, you keep the stock suspension as is. The stock LCA's stay in place to control front to rear movement.

Can you drive yours that low?

There's got to be a few secrets to it, like good shocks, extra 1/4" manual paddle valves for fine tuning the height, etc...

I'd like to find a small 2-3 gallon plastic tank I can drop my stock sending unit and pump into just so I can move the car around with the stock tank out. Any ideas?

I remember seeing certain new pickups that come without beds or tanks. They are work trucks and later have flatbeds installed. They came with little tanks like I'm talking about so they can be loaded and shipped to dealers. Damned if I know where to find them.
