badass work man..so what if it may hurt performance/handling? it will still be faster than most cars, and most importantly, he will have FUN in it. i guarantee you he will get more looks than pretty much anyone on this board

oh and btw here's a bagged corvette:

Doing that to a Corvette is just plain ridiculous

Nah, it's better now. You can raise it a lot for steep driveways instead of scrapping. The rims are kind of funny looking, though.

Yellow Lambo on air.

And to show some performance from an air setup, here is a vid of a drift car using it. It's a bit long. You don't have to watch the whole thing.

Really cool video showing the before and after performance of a Magnum. It shows how much the handling improved.

Maybe this will open some people eyes.

You know, I think I may just swap the IRS in the back of my car now. That way I'll need to do less sheetmetal work. I won't need to clearance the pumpkin or the torque arm. I mean, why do all that work now when you don't really need to? Doesn't that make sense?

BTW, there a few other guys looking onto air setups, what were you saying about a good choice for the rear bag? The 2600 rode smoother? Is that a Contitech and would it be the 2 ply or the 4 ply?

I think for my own setup I'll run 2 1/2" fill valves for the front and the other 6 will be 3/8. Then I'll get adjustable slowdown devices if I need to.

For those guys who don't have a lot of space what would be a minimum tank size to go from all the way down to all the way up using a 200psi compressor? Would a little 2 gallon tank tucked away do that? I plan to run a big tank or 2 smaller tanks and show them off, so I'll have plenty of extra air for myself. It's just that some poeple want to keep the t-top area clear so a smaller tank would be better for them.

this was the old set up in my wifes car
it was a 5 gal tank with 2 compressors and worked really good had plenty of air 4 the car at 160 psi but that was with the v6

now my truck has a 6 gal. at 180 psi and it needs all of it 2 raise all the way 2 ride hight only around 1 1/2 to 2 times maybe
so a 2 gal i dont think will be enough maybe at 200 psi but im not sure
if anything u will only be able 2 raise the car 1 time
but it all depends on how high you have 2 raise it and the wight of the car

putting the irs is still going 2 be alot of work with making all the mounting and susp. parts work

i have 2500 universal air double below bags in the rear and they ride alot better than the 2500 firestone bags did

With the IRS I don't have to make any mounting points for the A-arms. That's the beauty of it. It's pratically bolt in. It's very similar to the Cobra IRS. Ford designed it to bolt into the place of the solid axle. All I have to do is make 4 mounts to bolt in the cradle. The more I think about it, the more I realize it needs to be moved to the front of my list. Once that part is done then I can focus on a new gas tank, tubbing the rear, dual exhaust, etc... I was planning on doing it much later, but it makes more sense to do it first.

So the rear bags are the "Double Play" from Universal Air. https://www.universalairsuspension.c...000b1b315bc2d9

I'll pass that along to the other guys. Why do you think the Firestone 2500 rode worse? Maybe it was a thicker rubber material? I can't really think of a good reason.

and one other thing i just thought about is the placement of the bag on the IRS
that might be a problem

yep thats the bags that are in the rear
they also have more stroke over the firestones

Bag placement on the IRS is really different. It's more like the A-arm setup on the front of your truck, but with less weight on it. I hope the bags can work on both, but it's no big deal if I need to get different bags.

In fact, one model of the car actually came with air bags. It would probably cost a small fortune to get some factory bags, though. I think these aftermarket bags would work just fine.

Here's a pic of the IRS. I think those Double Play bags would work on both rear ends. We'll see.
