Default Painting my 10spokes *Pics*

I picked up a 2nd set of SS 10spokes and I'm painting them gloss black. After cleaning them up I wet sanded with 400 grit. Then 3 coats of Primer. Now just finished the first coat of color.

1st coat primer

2nd coat primer

3rd coat primer

First coat color

More pics to come tonight as I work on them.

Nice work. It looks pretty good. I'm not sure how much I'll really like the black wheels on an NBM car. But, if you like it, that's all that matters. Personally, I like the ones on it in your sig.

Looks good but IMO you should get them powder coated. You'll be upset when they chip.

Thanks!

I was thinking about powdercoating, but I didn't want to spend a ton on a secondary set of wheel ya know? If they chip, no big deal, its not a tough fix.

For the clear yes. The primer and paint are a different kind of Duplicolor.

Is the clear cloudy at all? I've noticed Duplicolor's high temp clear isn't as clear / glossy as a normal clear would be... if that makes sense.

It doesn't seem cloudy, but its hard to get full coverage with it all being smooth. The trailing edges of the spray make it, i dunno... like it has texture, so I'm forever chasing that texture away by spraying more... That probably makes no sense.

not sure if u can see a difference from the last picture, but here is with 2 coats of clear. Final one should be done soon.

Yeah, I know what you're saying. Try spraying your coat lighter if that's happening...

I was thinking the same thing. It's going to suck when you go to get new tire on and balanced, because then you'll have a spot right there that you'll have to touch up. Also, next time you do have them balance your tires, ask them to use the stick on weights that go inside, so you wont have to worry about them damaging the face of the paint. Look great though, nice work! Just needs a polished lip and it'll look a ton better.
