Amen Brother! I'm so glad to see you went the low key tasteful route with your paint color choice. When I saw the topic I though I was going to see bright red, yellow , or that aweful chrome in a can stuff. When people do that it makes me want to . (same for the stock plastic radiator support piece)

IMO the bumper support piece should blend in and not be highlighted by using a subtle choice in paint color to make it appear stock just cleaned up a little, or should I say detailed. In contrast the STB is a non-stock "Performance Addition" and looks great as an accent piece and your red one looks good as does your engine compartment. (just don't get too carried away with the wire loom though)

Looks Great!! If you don't mind me askin', how long did it take you? What prep work did you do to the plastic, and how hard was the removals and installation? I appreciate your help. I am looking for ways to tastefully liven up my engine bay.

SS LS1: i had friggin red loom all over the place in there. I dont know what I was thinkin 3 years ago or so when i did that. I have a whole box of red loom I took off the car LMAO. It a point where you can do to much in there. Every thing I do i either have to take or add something to make it blend in better.

But I took alway the red loom and added those painted washers/ss bolts around the engine bay.

as for the plastic peice:
It took roughly 10mins to get out.
You have to undo the bolts at the top, then pop those plastic fasteners out that hold the nose of car to it. Turn the headlights on so they stick up(TA). This gives you plenty space to remove the other bolts. Take the 4nuts(2 on right and 2 on left) off that hold the peice in. Then comes the fun part. You have to bend the nose piece up, and work that plastic peice off the bolts and outta the car. Just be careful not to stratch paint. Its really simple. Just go out and look at yours. It should be 9 fasteners total that hold it in there.

for the plastic, i just cleaned it well with water. Used gloss black spray paint and took my time while applying. I didnt do to much at a time cause I didnt want the paint to run or bead up. Just apply thin coats and let dry. It only took about 20mins to get it painted right.

alltogether? 30mins total give or take. Its just something easy and fun to do if you are bored and need to get away from the wifey LMAO

BTW, the only tools needed are a 10mm socket wrench and flat head screw driver to pop those tabs out

washers are just painted, with a smaller stainless washer on top. Then of coarse a stainless 6mm bolt(10mm head). Maybe 6-7bucks for all that....

lid is the clear smoked TSP

thanks for all the good comments. Im still not happy with the engine bay though LMAO
When mine looks like Steve's ill be happy

Pic isn't working for me

But yeah, that mod was something I wanted to do when I was home in June, but I couldn't figure out how to get that piece off. Oh well, something to do later I guess...

its from texas speed. Its a AFE or AFR, cant remember the name. But its bascially the same as the powershot, just has a red liner. I had to ditch the K&N cause I got sick of replacing that gasket in the lid for it Trevor runs the same filter in his car so it must work

Just wanted to say thanks for the thought... I did this over the weekend while I was killing some time. Used a Semi-Gloss black, looks great. Pics will be up on my site someday.
