Default Shaving the stems on headlights

My head lights are getting pretty damned nasty. One is getting so bad that the yellow literally looks like scales on it. SO, I'm gonna tear them apart and wet sand them back to a crystal clear finish (and throw in a whistler mod while I'm at it). I'd love to shave those 3 little stems off the head lights, but I'm afraid that even once I get them flush they'll still leave some so of circle on the lens.

Has anyone ever shaved those off? Or anyone have any idea on what to expect if I do cut them off and smooth them out?

yeah that little circle is what I'm afraid of leaving. But I'd almost rather have that than the stems sticking out. I'm also gonna try to eliminate those horizontal lines too. Lemme know how yours come out when you're done.

Horizontal lines are on the inside of the lens. I got all the circle marks off of mine. I will try to get some decent pics.

Mine were done by hand so there was no way I was tackling those stems. Don't have the stamina for that!

Mine look like toofast's, you cant even tell they were there I started with a small hacksaw to remove the majority of the nipples, then i moved to a small file to remove as much as possible, and then sandpaper....

It can come out really nice, just be careful. I tried it once and scratched all around the nipples. I was impatient though

Yeah the pic of your head light "before" is about as bad as mine are getting. I plan on using my dremel to cut the bulk of the stem off, then just hand sanding until I get a smooth finish. I just wanna make sure there are no surprises once I get them cut down. It's good to know there will be no indication they were ever there so long as I take my time.
