I have a convertible with a plastic window. Is it possible to tint the plastic? If so will it just come off in a couple of days/weeks? Or should I just do a dot matrix sticker that makes it hard to see in but keeps it possible to see out?

Default plastic window?

pjmayher;
make sure that it is plastic because most windows in conv. are glass if it is glass it is hard to tint but it can be done, if it is plastic it can also be done but it will look like it will come off,,,,, but it will stay??? I have tinted on plastic before sometimes it is hard to get it to look like the glass windows......... if you take the time and cut it on the outside, with sizing it on the inside you can do it yourself with cheap tint from autozone but for a good fix you should look into a local shop because we(I) use good tint that won't turn purple after 6 months!!!

Hey there, I posted in another thread and didn't see that you had this one..
Roughly, how much do you think it would be to get my to (front) windows tinted? Just driver and passenger door. I wanna know before I bother driving to a shop, just an estimate.

Thanks man!

I normally charge $60 for two windows but I have seen some shops charge all the way up to $120 so the best thing to do is call or go by

1st, they make solutions that they say will soften the matrix the best way without painting is to take a razor blade and run over it for about 5minutes be careful not to hit the defroster. best way I know

I forgot about glue, I use to use elmers gel glue in the stick sometimes it works sometimes a bit messy

flames are easy if you can draw, however I can't
SO I use another method
I am working on a flame bowtie 10" or so to go in my side windows red over chrome then smoke to cover the window I will post pics or maybe do a howto/write up maybe.......

It depends on the state, in missouri we have to have a doctors prescription for say 20% that just means that you can put darker than the legal limit 35% on the two front driver/pass windows because there is no limit on the back
after you get the prescription then you get your windows tinted and then you have to make an appointment with the Highway Patrol to have them check it, if it passes they give you the permit.

as far as the windshield I don't believe they will let you. I had a 2000 chevy truck that I tinted the windshield 35% wow it was dark and illegal but it looked like it was going to rain outside on the "sunnyist" day. night driving was better after the HID conv

you should look on ebay for headlight tint I have tinted a Lexus with some that a buddy bought for I think $20 it is more like plastic wrap very easy to do
the window tint is not made to be in the weather so it won't last long. by the way the headlight tint looks pretty neat for show car apps for the price

yes it will work as long as the tint shop doesn't take a razor blade and hack up the defrogger I have heard that some metalized filmz will mess with it but for the most part if your defrogger worked before it will work after pending no chop chop

if I have 5% tint and want it darker what percentage tint will I need to be able see out from the inside in the daylight but not allow people to see in from the outisde? meaning 5% and then what percent on top of that, double tinted ya know.
