Default T-Top fiasco!

Let me share with you guys my whoes. This all started on 7/5 when I let my girl borrow the car. She took it to her house and decided she was going to take the T-tops off. She left the keys in the house, so went in there to get them, but set the tops on the ground in the meantime. Somehow she was sidetracked in the house and forgot about them, came back out of the house, and backed over them I was actually very nice about it to her because she was VERY upset that it had happened and knows how much I love my car. So, with two broken T-tops, apparently they aren't covered by my glass insurance since they are part of the structure of the car. They would be collision, so it'd be 500 deductible.

I decided instead to just buy a used set. Found a used set on ebay and bought them for a pretty reasonable price. Paid for them and waited. Emailed a couple days after payment looking for a tracking number and he said the echeck hadn't cleared yet. So, I waited a week or so and then emailed again. No answer. I noticed at this point that this person, since I bought these, has had 7 negative feedbacks!!! They were all people stating that they didn't receive their parts and whatnot. Finally, I requested his information from ebay and called him. He asked me to call back in 10 minutes and he'd get me the tracking info. He sounded surprised that I hadn't received it yet. I called back and he still didn't have the tracking info, but said that he shipped it a week and a half ago via UPS. It should've been here by now if that's the case. He said that he would call me back in 3-4 hours when he got out of work and get me the number.

Later that night, I waited and waited for a call. 3-4 hours passes. 5, 6 hours passed. Finally I called him. No answer. I called again and left a message. This was yesterday. I'm going to try calling him again today.

So why do people have to be like that!?!? Why must everyone rip off everyone else just to make a buck?! All this crap and I haven't been able to drive my car for almost 3 weeks now.

Yeah, they do I think, but they want you to try to work it out by contacting the seller first.

The killer here is that his feedback was pretty good when I bought it! He didn't have a ton of feedback, but he was like 98% positive and now he's dropped to like 60% in the past 3 weeks!

Ebay's policy won't do anything. If you paypal'ed then you might have a fight.

Ya I hope you used Pay Pal. I've had issues before and the second you issue a claim, you get responses. I have some t-tops laying around BUT they are for my conversion otherwise I'd offer to sell 'em to you :-P

Good luck!!

aye paypal and make sure they accept paypal... even then id get their info and i always read their feedback and make sure they have over 100 total sales.. cause it sounds like he only had a few to go from 98 to 60%

so my advice is get a good hacker and hack his **** then show up at his house saying (in Stewie's voice) "wheres my money?"

Find out where he lives. If he is not close, maybe some folks on here who live near him could stop by and ask him where your T-Tops are. I cant stand a thief.

I think the real question is why did you let your girlfriend drive, let alone take your car to her house by herself anyways....................

echeck, that is usually bank transfer through paypal when you don't have a CC linked to the paypal account (when the CC is linked it is an instant transfer because it can use the CC as backup if the instant transfer fails).

I use paypal for small stuff, but for bigger items (over $100) I use a U.S. Postal Money Order. If they don't go through with it, I inform them this is mail fraud (which it is) and they are !@$#ed if they don't send me said item. So...just a thought the next time you purchase something over the internet.

Damn I kinda went through the same thing buying my T Tops off eBay. I won and paid for them the second the auction was over (CC via PayPal). I never heard from the seller for a week or so and never got my tops. The day before filing a claim w/ eBay and PayPal I finally got a message saying they were sent out. 23 days after the auction I finally got my tops. So I feel your pain.

I'd say if it's been over 10 days, file the claim w/ eBay and PayPal (if you used them) and try to get your money back. Once they see that crap you'd be surprised how quick they can respond (if they are indeed not trying to scam you).

Well, yes, I did use Paypal. I won the auction on 7/5 and paid on 7/6. The echeck cleared on 7/9 and here we are with no tops. I tried calling him again tonight and he didn't answer so once again, I left a message. According to what he told me yesterday on the phone, he sent them out a week and a half ago. They definitely should have been here by now. He lives in Topeka, Kansas. I'm all the way up here in Central New York, so it's pretty far for me to visit him unfortunately.

IF he shipped via UPS like he said then he should be able to give you a tracking number. If he doesn't have one then he never shipped and he's scamming you. If he gives you a fake one or the wrong one he's scamming you. If you can't get a hold of him at all.... file a Paypal dispute.

I'm with this guy. Get his address and post that dip ****'s info up so someone from this site can visit the guy and say "Hey, my friend said he wants his T-tops...NOW!" Oh, and said person in KS, bring a few friends in case he wants to get ugly! Then just beat his *** at the door and go looking for the T-tops. I feel no mercy for people like that and even if he pulls em right out of his *** he should still get a good whoopin.
