How much lighter is this hood compared to a stock hood???
I am looking to buy a lightweight hood. I think I saw some that weighed almost nothing and you could even put pins so you can remove all the stuff associated with the stock hood...

I believe its about 30lbs lighter than stock if that helps you out in any way.. At least thats what the body shop mentioned to me.

I've seen a few other guys with painted interior parts. Looks great, but I was wondering how it holds up to use, especially the door panel around the handle.

lol ExremeZ28... I want the SS spoiler as well, that and the hood seem like the best combo out there. I didnt want the SS hood AND spoiler, id hate for it to look like a "SS wannabe", plus i think the Ultra Z hood is more aggresive. Ill post if the paint wears off, but it seems pretty tough under that clearcoat.. I tested it by TRYING to scratch is really hard.. but only time will tell i suppose...

Big Bos, go to Tbyrne's site, and listen to his car, versus the stock application!! You'll be slightly impressed, I can assure you.

LJ_Z28... I actually used aluminum engine enamel, ya know the 500 deg kind, DupliColor i believe? I used primer and clear coat as well, however both of those were Krylon brand, available at any hardware store, Kmart etc. Thanks for the compliments guys!

LS1UltraZ, that is one kick *** ride!!
How much did your hood cost in total? I've been looking into buying one of these, but need to know how much to save up. Thanks.

Thanks DV-8 ! Hood was $650 from SLP, i think its usually $695 just there was a small discount running that week. Expect $75 for shipping, truck-freight. The total for prep and paint was $450. That amount would change if u needed fender blending to get the color to match your car etc... i had a black car so they didnt need to do that. LONG story behind this hood.. car was vadalized and "Ford 5.0" was scratched into my stock hood/ smashed with a hammer. Luckily insurance covered it, and i decided what the hell, id go ahead and fork over some extra cash to get something better than a stock replacement. Took 3 months from start to finish.. most of that was because of a backorder through SLP, so check on that first! Any more questions feel free to ask!
