Default LED Gauges and Ram Air LEDs - New Pics

Hey guys. Just got done installing my cluster LEDs. I originally bought 5 white LEDs thinking they would light up the gauges better because of the Trans Am red filter for the lights, but they sucked. So this time I put in wide angle red LEDs.

I also put two MORE light bars in my Ram Air scoops, making a total of four light bars. Two Cold Cathode computer light bars, and two LED bars. I also lined the whole ram air box inside full of reflective tape, so now its ALOT brighter than it used to be, which wasn't bright enough before.

Before:

I don't have any good before shots of the Ram Air Lights..

AFTER

I also hid the wires in the engine bay finally. I used wireloom and zip tie clips to secure them to the hood, so nothing hangs and everything is hidden.

My car is packed into the driveway right now, i'll take a few shots of the lights on with the whole car when someone pulls a car out.

Oh yeah, they're only for when I go to car shows and stuff like that, or just to show off.
And yes I will get some better pics as soon as I can get my car out of the driveway.. One of our cars is blocking mine and my parents took all the keys with them

Its funny that you mention that! I once bought a strip with a bunch of LEDs that run side from side and wanted to mount them there behind the nostrils. I did but it blocked air comming in....SLP hood would not clear them...... so I aborted plans. Your pics will inspire me to give it one more approach! Looks great by the way! It goes perfectly with the color of car!

I wish I could find a bright one that ran from side to side haha.

I think these bars in something as small as an SS scoops might block the air coming in as mentioned.. But the Light bars just have a power and ground wire. I ran them from a switch in the cabin (I cut off the wires on my cigarette lighter, there's a power and a ground) and I used the power to power the switch and the lights, and the ground to ground the LED lit switch. I used a ground in the engine bay for the lights. They run dwon the hood in wire loom, attached to the hood so there not hanging. There's a firewall grommet behind your drivers side carpet, I ran the wires through there.

Car looks good and angry. Okay I can go to bed now thanks for the pm alerting me LOL I've wanted to do this to my car even before I had my firehawk hood. Okay now not right now but if you have a chance could you take pics of under the hood where the wires are run. I just don't know how I could run the wires to hide stuff because I need a clean look when I lift my hood.

Man I really want to try this with my SS scoop. I have some red LED strips. I can program them to pulse back and forth. Maybe do like a Knight Rider kind of thing in the scoop.

Go for it guys! It really isn't hard lol. I took out the dray in the middle console, pulled on the wires for the cigarette lighter so I can reach them, then cut each wire one by one, the ground and power. Then I stripped them and put wire connectors on the end (crimped them). Then I put them onto the switch. Ran the power wire for the lights through the firewall, crimped a connector on that, and attached it to the final post of the switch. The ground is in the engine bay for the lights. I'll take pics in a little bit.

Here are the pics of the wiring.

Zip tied to 3M clip, I painted it red

This is the GROUND for the LIGHTS. Its on the drivers side of the engine bay, I think its a factory ground, I just added mine onto it.

Switch

Switch has an LED therefore it needs a ground. I used the ground from the cigarette lighter as well as the power. The cig. lighter ground grounds the switch, the power powers the switch AND my lights.

This is the cig. lighter I used the power and ground from, pull out the tray next to it and you can get to the wires.

4 Light bars, and I lined the inside with reflective tape.
