The install instructions from this site that "everyone uses" isnt right. They are made to be ran off a computerized circut. Not 12v power wire as described in write-up. My wire ribbon in the button completely fried the first time the car started. Waste of 55 bucks.

My friend, who knows so much I cant understand what he's talking about, laughed and said he couldnt believe that anyone made it work that way. He told me what you'd need to make it right but I have no clue what he said, I was already over the idea. He also said it's an ignition fire waiting to happen. So idk... I never heard of anyone else having the problem either.

I know but the plug is for a computerized circut (look at the plug, its similiar looking to the older hard drive computer plugs). In the s2000 when you hit the button it doesnt power the starter, it tells the computer to start the car. Not meant to become a momentary 12v switch. It may work for some, but from what I experienced and heard not recommended.

hey havoc i think you sent me a message on my youtube(sweet86ss). It does use a small type hardrive type connector as mentioned above. You splice into existing wires under the dash. Basically what happens is you are running a wire from a 12v source and to the relay, to the button, to the starter wire. I cant remember the diagram off hand.

I remember a 30 or 40 amp relay is the one to use.
On the back of the button there are only three wires goin to it( two wires to complete the circuit and one for ground I believe.

If people had burning up problems then the wiring must have been incorrect.

Anyone think of searching the site you are on.....

https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearance-detailing/658849-push-start-button.html
https://ls1tech.com/forums/wiring-stereo-electronics/680997-push-button-start.html
https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearance-detailing/885086-finished-up-my-interior-upgrades-pics.html
https://ls1tech.com/forums/wiring-stereo-electronics/847751-push-button-ignition.html

I just searched for "start button". Not all the links in those threads work anymore, but it looks like at least one did. There is still plenty of good info in those threads (technical and diagrams).

I found a link that works...
http://www.bowlingss.com/Mods/Instal...e%20Switch.mht
It was in one of the above threads. That page seems to only work in Internet Explorer though.

BTW, the link you were thinking of is:
http://members.***.net/pitre/s2000sw.htm
Which moved to:
http://www.pitreweb.com/s2000sw.htm
But neither works anymore.

I think you forgot a relay. That switch can't handle the full load of the ignition system. It's intended to switch a relay which will switch the ignition system.
