Default mechanical transmission to electrical speedometer

I am about to start swapping a first generation sbc into a 95 camaro. I will probably run some sort of manual non electronic transmission. I might just go with a th400 or 700r. Is it possible to get the stock speedometer to work correctly with this setup? I know you can get the signal from the abs but since the engine will not be using it can I still run it through the pcm to tune it and it function correctly? I know you can also get a reluctor wheel and speed sensor but that wouldnt have the correct signal either. Ive done alot of searching but I have not found a definite answer yet. If anyone has any advice on how to make this work it will be greatly appreciated.

If it is a 700r4 you are going with, you can use the same reluctor wheel as a 4l60e. Also there are converters that can change mechanical signal to electric and vice versa.

If you go with a th400 there are factory truck applications that use a reluctor wheel and electric sender.

Does the signal have to go through the pcm? Could I just use the pcm to drive the speedometer even if it is not running the engine?
Thanks for helping.

You can if you want too. If it has the right cal for want ratios you are using just keep the power and ground going to it.

I've done it like that on a '88 GMC truck, '89 Silverado, and '93 Silverado. Slightly different but same theory.
Usually cut a ton of wires out as well, and kept the ones needed.

Do you know where I could find a wiring diagram to show what wires I need to keep.
Thanks
