Default converter question

how much gain is there between a $500 tci converter and lets say a $800 yank the same stall?

Default Don't make a decision without talking to FTI

Check out our link below for more information on our FTI Converters and give us a call for more information on what would best for your exact application.

dude i have had both also, and i really like both of them. no problem with either of them. I had the tci recently refreshed and it was in really good shape. I dont think you can go wrong with either converter.

yank is a far better choice than TCI.

The Yank would deffinitely be worth the extra cash, I know you'd be kicking yourself in the *** when your trans gets fubared becuase your cheap converter decided to take a dump

tci has been around along time, i wouldnt consider it to be cheap made.
yeah i know the vig is probably going to be faster but is it $ 300 worth faster if the car runs 11:80s.

i really dont think your gonna see a big difference between them.. tci has been around for a long time, and i dont think you will have anything to worry about going with them.

You are comparing 2 totaly different styles of converters. The TCI lacks the billet front and uses a much smaller 9.5" lock up clutch. The Yank will have a billet front cover and much larger clutch. So even if the performance was the same, durability is very different. If the lock up clutch goes out, it can and probably will take out your transmission, costing a lot more than the $300 you supposedly saved.

FYI, I thought I would throw in a shameless plug for our Circle D Billet series, We will move you

If you are on a budget, we offer an 11" 3200 stall for the LS1's. They do not have the billet front but do use a OE 12" front cover and clutch - so they are still very strong.

If we're showing pics this is what a FTI SRLS series looks like. No dampner to break, monster clutch, billet piston, billet cover, furnace brazed & tig welded, chromemoly hub, etc...
ENJOY!

Thanks,
Greg

What the heck, I will show off some pics too. Here is our Multi Disk. 3 Times more lock up surface area than a billet single disk.

The multi disk is a very tough converter. It is recommended for FI setup or big nitrous cars. The typical NA car will not show any benefit from a WOT lock up, so the billet single disk is good.
