Default converter unlocking....advice

ok so i just had the tranny in my 97 lt1 rebuilt. i had them install a brand new 3600 yank converter. the car shifts perfectly but whrn im cruising down the free way the converter will lock up at lower speeds but then it will unlock at 65mph or higher and wont lock back up. i know its nothing in the tranny.

is this normal? what can this be?

In dont know about your shift points but the issue your having is relativley common after installing a high stall converter. Your tuner should be able to take care of it easily enough.

Yes, max out the misfire table as stated.

im sorry im not sure what max out the misfire means. is that the misfire code or just stating i have a misfire.

so once i change my plugs and wires and have the code cleared the converter should start acting properly.

ur cars not actually misfiring. I think it has somthing to do with the size and weight of the aftermarket converter that makes it pick up a false misfire. By maxing out the misfire tables it fixes the problem.

Atleast it did for me.

Usually you don't completely delete the misfire system, you just max out the tables so its not as sensitive. In the case that you actually do have a misfire you want to be able to know just in case you can't tell by listening to the car. What he did will work but from my experience its not what "most" tuners do.

well maybe he just maxed them out. i told him what people on the forums were telling me to do. most people can tell if the car has a misfire, i have never relied on a computer since all i used to work on is old school chevys.

but im happy with the tune and the car is running very strong.
