PY3400 feels like a stock converter????
Took the car to the dyno Friday (13 hour round trip) and I am a little dissapointed in this converter. On the dyno it seemed to lug down the motor, and after telling my tuner (Ed Wright) that is was a 3400 he told me it felt like a stocker? The guy who helped put the car together as well said the converted felt way to tight? Going from Park to drive it acted like the car wanted to bog/die.
Wanted to know if anyone else had such an experience?
I'll contact Dave tomarrow, but anyone have an opinion?

I have the same vertor and I feel it is very tight also. I ran 10.46 at 131 with it but it just seems to be a very tight convertor compared to the TCI 3600 I had. But it really has been depedable to say the least. No problems thus far and the lockup has worked flawlessly!!

Py3400
Yep, the PY3400 drives very close to stock from my experiences. I had it in my h/c LS1 at first and was hugely disppointed. I know it wasn't designed for a weak hearted mild h/c LS1, but I had plans to Procharge the following year.
Long story short, I switched from the PY3400 to a SS4000 and went from 12.17 to 11.52 in the 1/4 with the h/c LS1 that made 402 RWHP with the A4 and the PY3400/9" combo.
The PY3400 has worked pretty well in my current 403 with the D1SC making 9# I went 10.16/10.17 at 1000' DA (1.44 60') and 10.43/10.45 at 2800' DA
(1.52' 60).
I am contemplating installing the SS4000 in this combo to give it a whirl for a few track passes.
I think if I could leeave with more nuts I could get the 60's into the mid 1.30's with this car and that would pay big dividends on the other end, maybe 9's.
I do wish the PY3400 was looser for racing purposes, but it does drive nice around town. Dave told me a year ago there was no loosening the PY3400.
It also robs alot of power on the dyno.

helicoil I had actually thought of your combo when I was thinking about my converter issues. I talked to Dave and he told me to send it back and he can make it a PY3600 if I wanted.
Still working out some other issues, but I plan to send it back for a restall.
If you change converters let me know how your car responds.
Mightmouse is making in the 1000RWHP range and runs this converter, but then again he makes a lot more power than us, lol.
I definatly think we can get away with more/loose converter.

Im running the py3600, I love it, it is a little tight which I dont really mind cause driving around town the car feels stock. As soon as I mash the the throttle the tires boil off. I havent taken it to the track yet but, I will be very soon.

Really? I thought it would be a little better on the dyno since it's suppose to be more suffeciant?? I ran 562/516 locked on the dyno with mine and I thought that was good. Dave told me the same about sending it back for a restall to the PY3600 but I've been on the fence about it. Maybe you just pushed me off!!??

About eating power on the dyno I could care less, as long as its fast, lol. Then again locking the converter will fix that for dyno numbers. I would think since it is efficient it would show good numbers?
Good info fellas, when I get some of my issues fixed I will let everyone know where its stalling too.
Dave told me to go WOT and see how many rpms the shift falls too (should only be around 1000 rpm drop) and brake stall the car and see what it stalls too?
What does yalls cars brake stall to and what is your shift extension?
