Vigilante 3600 vs YANK SS3600
I have heard from users of the SS3600 that it feels stock and tight, but packs the punch. I also get advised by many local drag car builders to go with Viginlante and its always worked great for them.
There is a Vigilante 3600 for sale in the classifieds that I am interested in, how good is it for the street?
I am running a CC503 on stock 2.73s, considering going to 3.73s when the trans is out (dictated by funds).

I have a vig 3600 and it does not feel stock. heh. It's a fantastic converter thus far, on the converter alone i dropped .5 and gained 2-3 MPH. It was a bit loose but after I had my trans rebuilt it tightened up, so I'm led to believe it was my trans and I was blaming the converter. Now it's a bit tighter and there's almost no slack.
I can't speak for Yank, but my Vig has been great.

A bit more. If you're trying to just go 25 mph up your street at night, I was running like 2250 rpms (3.23 gears).
In order to roll from a stop it only takes like 1/16th more throttle, but you can tell that it revs up a lot higher to get it moving, but on the highway when it locks up, i'm only running maybe 100 rpms higher. So city you're going to lose a ton of MPG, highway i doubt you'll see any difference.
Overall you're going to lose MPG because you're going to keep revving it up because of the kick in the pants you get when you stab it. I'm not sure if you've ever driven a high stall car, I had similar questions just a few months ago. Now, I see why people say they'll never go back to stock stall. The shift extension (rpm drop between shifts) is like 200 rpms instead of the needle dropping way off. Since the TC is 2.5" smaller diameter and lighter it spins up so much faster and even though you have to rev it up a bit to get it rolling, it revs up super fast, so you won't notice any real loss.
Hope that helps, if you have any other questions I'll do my best to help.

yank! yank! yank! yank! yank! feel like stock on cruising on interstate but loosens up when ya punch it
But i do where there is a good deal on a vig stall i can get more info on if ya want i think he said 3600! It just been rebuilt by vig so its just as good as new. A local speed show has it here. I wanna say he wanted like $3-$400 for it

Have you tried both?
I have been in a Trans Am LS1 with the same cam as yours, and 3.42 gears. It had a YANK SS3800. I didn't drive the car but I watched the tacho, it moved around 1800RPM if I remember correctly. **** packs one hell of a punch even on a roll, instant kick and having Nittos as well only helped rearranged my guts more. Its run 11s, is a daily driver and has gone 10s with NOS.
Loss of MPG is something I couldn't care less about. I love to drive my Camaro, and its about 16$ for a full tank of 92 here (flame suit on)
I do trust the guys who recommended the Vigilante, they also respect YANK and consider both at the same level of quality, but for some reason prefer Vigilante.

I have a vig and love it, I always hear good things about yank as well though. I'd say eith one is good as ong as you go 3600 on the stall speed. I have a fuddle 2800 and it was nice and never gave me problems, but the 3600 change way night and day as well. I gained .4 with the 2800 stall, then another .2 with the 3600 vig.

A locked converter is a locked converter there will be no rpm change between different converters regardless of stall or brand.
OP you cant go wrong with either its all a matter of opinion. Vigilante's tend to be looser on the street is the only difference I have seen. Gears will dictate how loose your converter feels. I would definately get rid of the 2.73s unless you really are concerned about mileage.

If I get a stall, I will rebuild my trans and swap out gears all at once. I can afford the stall now, its just the rebuild and the gears that need to be thought of well.

I guess I'm sold. I just need to look into the costs of the gears swap too and a trans rebuild (going to do this myself, done it on Toyota A4s before, this should be a learning experience).
Thanks for the input guys.

I have a yank 3600 and I love it. I know that the new vig stalls are really nice too. I can't speak for vig n performance from experience but I've cut my far share of 1.6 60 fts. U really can't go wrong with either 1.

The 3600 can stall to 4k and can flash up to 4300
The 3200 can stall to 3500 to 3600 and can flash to around 3800
When they are feshly new they are really loose, however, once broken in they tighten up a good bit.
