Hey guys Im kinda new in the ls1 world and I have a 2000 trans am with a stock automatic transmision and 373 10 bolt and I have ordered a 7psi procharger that will be here in a week and I was just wondering how long do stock trannys last with this setup or should I go ahead and order a tranny that will hold up

the 3/4 clutch pack will prob go out first, thats what happened to mine with a few basic bolt-ons @ 130k on the clock.

you may as well order a built one and stall converter now, blowing trannys over and over ******* sucks, ive done it. youll spend way more in repairs than it would have cost you up front to do it right the first time. im currently almost 5k into my tanny when i could have originally built it better than it is now for less than 3k.

It won't last long....with any sort of traction at least. Step it up to a 4L80E the first time it blows...you will be money ahead in the long run.

With mods in my sig and a 75 shot of nitrous, my tranny is still going strong.
I am either on my 22nd or 23rd bottle of gas and have had no issues at all.
I have no idea what kind of rwhp you will be putting out, but I dyno'd at 423.5 to the wheels.
If your trans has been well maintained, your shift points are kept at 6000 rpms and with a good tranny cooler you should be ok for a while.

Mine blew about a week after my H/C/I was installed. My car only had 32,000 miles on it at the time. I bought a built 4L60E and I am having trouble with it to. I am in the process of of having a TH350 built for my car now. Trans problems are going to be a thing of the past!!

When i procharged my LT1 SS with 8 psi it lasted all of 500 miles, It was a stock trans with around 70 or 80 thousand on it.

Mine went out with 71,000 on the clock. Mods in sig but I think what did it in was the combination of the stall, LCA's and running MT ET Streets all summer long. With the MT ET Streets and LCA's I could hook VERY well on the street and I believe that put a lot of stress on the stock 4L60E.

It's not so much how much hp/tq you have but how well it hooks at the ground. That is what is hard on the trans.

time and pressure, how much of both you give it tells the tale.

saying how long your tranny will last is a million dollar question!! i remember when i was getting my cam, and 3200 stall put in i was paranoid as hell, as i was reading up on guys having there tranny give out during there dyno runs getting tuned, or crapping out on the way home.

honestly, i would try to baby the car or hardly ever drive the car until you get your tranny beefed up. When i got my cam and stall done, i never took my car out, only to wash it..LOL. i was paranoid to drive it because i felt my tranny would give out. i know have a built tranny, but i baby my car alot. i dont dog the **** out my car. i think as long as your driving normal it should be okay. dont expect it to last very long though.

It's hit or miss for some people and for me it was a definite miss. My tranny blew with 7x,xxx miles on the clock. Stock engine, suspension, street tires. Only mods were a high stall, catback, and lid.

Been beating on mine with a stall and drag radials for over 2 years and 40k miles, not all of those miles did it have the stall and DR's but alot of them it did, I have 173k miles on my tranny and it works perfect, I have full bolt ons prob 350-360 rwhp. I doubt that with much over 4oo it will hold very long though. Put a cooler on it, and run good fluid and that will help alot. I have a huge cooler on mine and keep the fluid changed. I run Valvoline Max life trans fluid, its a synthetic with a good additive package..
