Default How do I get rid of my "dead spots"?

Ok, so I'm pretty damn frustrated right now... I was heading down the road when this kid in a new Challenger RT pulls up next to me. I figure piece of cake since I've walked cars way faster than him.

So we start going, normally at first. I try to get him to go at 40mph, but he doesn't. We reach 60, THEN he floors it. I do the same right after, and it felt like my car was barely accelerating. No shifting or anything. I COULDN'T beat him. He stayed about 1/2 a car ahead of me until we let off (because he jumped first). I felt disgusted that I couldn't beat that pig of a car.

What the hell can I do to make sure this doesn't happen again? I know it's not a big deal and it was just bad luck, but it's bothering the hell out of me.

Maybe a bigger stall??? IDK but those cars seem to be fast from a roll. Same thing happened to me from like a 40 roll and that thing just left me there. Then I got the guy to run me at the next light and it was really ugly for him

My sig car IS my dd. Lol. Like i said, i have no idea what happened. It seems to happen on and off when going around 60mph. If I floor it from around 45, it's a beast. But every now any then when I floor it from a higher speed, it acts like crap.

whats funny is my car is the exact opposite. between 40-55 the car just sits there. come 60 mph, it starts to scoot.

A Circle D 4000rpm stall will solve that problem

i would think it had to do with the gears in the diff? my buddies camaro has the same dead spot i do and he has 3.23s and i have the stock 2.73s. i notice your car had 3.73s and has a completely different deadspot. just a theory, im probably wrong lol

Stock shift settings suck, get a decent profile programmed
in there. A converter wouldn't hurt but just decent part
throttle settings (and make sure your TB opens enough
to kick you into WOT shifting) will help it plenty.

what gear was it in? you said it didn't downshift...were you manually holding 3rd or did it stay in OD?

tune new downshift settings is the best you can do, but there will pretty much always be some spots where gearing isn't great

I got pulled on by a damn 99 cobra for the same reason, 68mph roll and the car stayed in 3rd instead of going to 2nd

I was just in "D". Usually when I floor it, it downshifts and basically automatically redlines with my gears and stall, but this time, nothing. It just slowly crept up in rpm's.

When I had it tuned, the guy said he optimized the shift points and got rid of my torque management. Maybe I need to get it tuned somewhere else.

might not have seen WOT or maybe you were just going a little faster than you thought and it was past the downshift threshold
