Default 4l60e or 4l65e? Think im getting hustled. Help!

This trans guy is trying to tell me my 98' Ls1 Trans Am has a 4l65e. I said ive never heard of this before. Has anyone else?

The cast number on my casing is how he claims to know its a 4l65e
the cast number is 24206952

The easiest way would be if i could see if theres a bolt hole top dead center but the trans is still on the car and i cant see there.

I need to replace asap but how do i know for sure?

He says he ran into a situation recently where he shipped someone a 4l60e for a 98' Ls1 and it didnt line up. He claims that casting number is how you tell the difference other than the input shaft or that bolt top dead center.

Of course the 4l65e is quite a bit more expensive he says. Says it has heavier duty parts for higher performance. Riiiiighhht.

Some people wrongly call and lsx 4l60e a 4l65e but to help him yes you do have a bolt dead center top of your bellhousing and thats the tytpe trans you need.

No F Body came from the factory with a 4L65E.

That casting number is for the bellhousing, it comes off, and that number is for an LS1 bellhousing.

This is a 2002 bellhousing.

This is a 1998 4L60E case, same number as the 2002 I have.

As I mentioned some core dealers and builders refer to the 98 up lsx style as a 4l65e even though its not . But from the perspective of ordering from this guy you would need to tell him 4l65e to get the right one from him .

I thought the guy looked at it until I read it again.
Trying to not sound rude to the OP.
