On stock gearing with an A4 what are you guys doing RPM wise at 70mph? I got the car as is and suspect it has different gears. I was doing 2800 at 70 with 275s on the rear. That right for stock of more like 3.73s? Thanks

Assuming you are on 17 inch wheels and your car is in overdrive that sounds more like a 4.10 ratio to me.

 

2800 is to high for 3.73s at 70, even to high for 4.10s. When you say 275's I assume your running 17's. Is your converter locked?

 

Thats correct if you had 2.73's and no 4th gear.
2724 rpm to be exact.

 

at 70 with lock up and 373 on zo6 wheels and 315 tires the car sits around 2350-2400 ish you sound like your pushing the 80 mph mark

 

The convertor is stock and I can't remember if it locked up or not. Car isn't driveable right now to go check lol. But at 70mpg it was doing 2700 to 2800 in 4th gear. That sound like 4.10s? I got that car like this and wasn't told of it having gears. It had been traded a few times. And yes on 17s. Sorry I forgot to include that in the first post.

 

With 4.10's in overdrive and locked up comes out to 2710 rpm.

 

I am gonna pull the cover tomorrow and just check the ring gear. Im hoping it has 4.10s in it. Save me some money on the rebuild lol
