well if you want a strong trans for the cheapest price then the th350 would be my choice. rebuild with a shiftkit ought to hold that power with no problems. Ive got a th350 in my truck thats nothing crazy its just rebuilt with extra steels and frictions with a stage 2 and its held up to about 700 horse for over 5 years..

My car is a street strip car and im ditching the 4l60e thats in it for a th350. The 4l60 is just too expensive for my budget to grenade once a year. Everyone ive talked to says they wouldnt change their mind on the swap. Just depends on what your doing with the car.

i would go with a lower gear for the th350 than the 4l60 due to the fact the 60 has quite abit lower first gear in it. if your going to run 1/8th mile maybe a 4.11 gear would be a good choice, will still have some drivability on the street although it wont be a highway cruiser. i run a th350 with a 28inch tire and 4.11's i like the combo alot.

its actually a pretty simple swap. the bellhousing bolts right up to an ls1. your going to need a th350 specific driveshaft which is a little longer than stock. the 6-speed tune will work fine. the stock t56 crossmember is fine but you will have to shim the bushing up about an inch or just get a bmr th350 one. you will also need a ls to th350 flexplate, hughes makes one for about 150. i actually just finished up a t56 to th400 swap so if you have any questions shoot me a pm
