Just pulled the 3.4L v6 and 4L60E from a friends 1994 camaro. The engine is toast but the transmission was recently rebuilt and is in very good shape.
We're planning to put a 5.3L v8 into the car (and eventually a 6 speed). But he'd like to be able to run the 4L60E for a while if he can.
The 4L60E is the one piece bellhouseing type (non-removable bellhouseing). Will the transmission bolt to the back of a 5.3L?

Not sure about the bell housing. I would adventure to say that since they are different from a 3.8 to a 5.7 that the 3.4 is different also. Also, was the tranny built for a v6 car or a v8 car? Because if it was a standard v6 rebuild then it won't hold up in the v8. The v6 trannys have fewer clutch packs in them than the v8's.

I'm told it was rebuilt "with corvette spec parts" but am yet to open it to verify. Once we get the engine I guess we'll have to see if it matches up or not.

The differences:
Bellhousing.
Input shaft.
Pump stator tube.
Torque converter.
2nd servo (sometimes).
V6 700R4's (4L60) were the same internally whether V6 or V8 since around 1989. And that carried over to the 4L60E's. Whether V6 or V8 they have the same amount of clutches. Newer versions like the 4L65E did have more in the 3-4.

Yeah, dead thread, so what? I'm working on the same idea, here's a link: http://www.thirdgen.org/forums/trans...4-v6-60-a.html
