alittle disapointed with my converter
So a year or so ago i put in a Yanks SS3600 converter in my car. I have gone to the track a number of times since i have installed the converter and put about 15,000 miles on it since then as well. My 60 foots are not impressing me with the size of the stall. my 60's have been consistent for the most part staying around 1.81 and 1.80. I feel that my 60's should easily be lower 1.7's. I have launched at all different rpms. I have flashed the converter mutliple times and the same 60. I have launched at 2500 rpms and still the same 60. My buddy has a yanks 3200 stall in his car and he is getting the same 60's as me. If i knew this i would have never have gotten the 3600 and i would have stayed with the 3200. Do you guys have any idea what i can do to help the 60 foot before i end up changing converters?? thanks for any help
Not that it makes a hug difference but i have tried two different drag radials mickey's and bf goodrich and the 60's stay the same.

You might have another tuner look at your tune as the SS3600 is a proven converter.
also check
There are many items that could cause your converter not to do it's job the most common is a leaking valve body or front pump in the trans.
This will allow converter clutch oil into the converter clutch oil flow path and allow the clutch to apply under high torque condition as brake stalling or going WOT.
If this happens you loose your most of the converters STR ratio
Check these things out first.

Something isn't right....either with your tranny, converter, or tune perhaps. Changing the converter may or may not fix your problem. That converter is capable of 1.6x 60s in a full weight lightly modded car.

my front pump isn't leaking i know that. Idk about the valve body. How whould i go about checking the valvebody?
I have another question that maybe a problem thats causing this. When i drive down the highway the converter slips a lot when i am in overdrive. Is this suppose to happen? I understand it is a bigger converter and they should slip. It doent seem right to me. Say i am cruzing down the road st 50mph and the car shifts into overdrive and my rpms are at 1800 and then the converter will start slipping and the rpms will be up around 2300rpms. Is this right and could this be problem??
As for the tune i had a good tuner in nj tune my car maybe its worth taking it to somebody else to get it checked out. I really would like to figure out what wrong instead of taking the converter out. I hope its nothing major

I would definatly get a reputable tuner to check your car out. That could very well be the issue. Lack of power to push you off the starting line and an out of wack tranny tune could be your issues. I would for sure pin point the problem before i put sole blame on a specific part , a sponsers at that, and blast them on ls1tech. Hope you get it figured out man.

I guess i dont have a choice at this point and time then to take it to a tuner and have him see whats up with the car. thanks for all the help guys. Its been very frustrating after pulling the trans and putting the converter in and have it not perform the way you want it to.

Stock gear with headers, catback, pulley and a tune, you may need a few more mods to get 1.7's. You can't just throw in a converter and expect to yank the wheels. What was your 60' with the stock converter ?

I believe your statement about the 1.7's is false because i have seen many ls1 cars with the same mods as me get into the 1.7's and high 1.6's. my best pass before the converter was a 12.65 @ 109 with a 1.92 60 so only a .1 gain in my 60 doesnt seem very good for a 3600 converter but if its not the converter and the trans then it makes more sense

I do not have a yank but my first FTI was a 3600 and just exhaust, tune, and LCA my car pulled 1.66 to 1.71 60'. Full weight on DR stock 323 gears.
Something is going on I very much doubt it's the convertor, there's way to many happy Yank customers out there. Got to be a trans issue, maybe tune but mine was pulling very close to the same 60's, before retuning for the stall.
My convertor slips a pretty fair amount till lock up, but never slips at all after that.
