Default stock 4l60 ? will it hold upto 400hp

i am putting acrate gm ls6 and and prob a 4l60 in my wifes 68 camaro car is going to be a daily driver, of course some times beat on when i drive. i can get acomplete 4l60 from a 98 firebird with 100k for $500 will this trans hold up to the 400hp, or is there any thing i should do to it. or just have one built from a vendor.

If there is some mods i should do to stock trans please list.
Or if i should have one built, who to go 2 for it.i dont have a core. bell or tail one vender wanted 450 just for the core, so thats why i was looking more toward the $500 one and put some money into it.
thanks kevin

ive worked at a gm dealer for a while now and i have seen stock pickups blow the 4l60. not to say they are bad. they do breakdown quite frequently. i have had 3 trucks with the 4l60 2 without any prob and one needed solinoids cheep and easy to do. you making 400 hp range i dont think it would hold. only if you never beat it ever and drive it niceley. if your going to beat it i would rebuild one with better cluches and there is a kit for the 4l60 called the beast. its a realy good kit. all the interals are 3 tymes as thik. its realy worth it. i think the sunshell breaks wery comon on these. it made out of some crazy metal twise as thik look it up. the beast sun shell is realy beefed up compared to stock. if i were to rebuild one of my trans i would definaly buy the beast kit. definatly worth it. good luck.

If you keep your shift points around 6100 rpms, do not delete tq mgmt and change your fluid at regular intervals, it should be fine for some time.
I am on my 29th bottle of nitrous, and thus far, my stock trans is perfectly fine.
423 rwhp to the ground with 71,000 miles on it.
Can't complain.

Your question is go with a 100,000 mile transmission or a built transmission.

Go with a built transmission and delete torque management 100%.

what size stahl & make converter do you plan on useing?

heat kills these trans....and a stock converter is no fun.

and shop the 4sale section on here for what you need, just check who you are dealing with!

Are you asking 400 fwhp or rwhp? Flywheel, it should be ok. RWHP, going to breakdown soon. I was around 100k when I did my H&C and my trans didn't last more than 2 months, and it is not a DD nor was I beating on it too much.

My trans has some small stuff like a Cooler, TransGo Shift Kit, B&M Aluminum Pan, and changed the fluid religiously since I work at a dealer. The car has 55K the trans has never been apart and still shifts great. It's behind a H/C/I car but I know I'm pushing my luck. Here's a video of 2 weeks ago!

I have an LS2 with about 500 flywheel hp swapped into a '81 Camaro. I have a new 2009 4L65E and a few questions:
Q1 - Will this late model 4L65E hold up with drag radials?
Q2 - Is the 4L65E significantly stronger than a 4L60E?
Q3 - Should I enable or disable torque management, or perhaps just reduce the amount of retard for torque management. (I have HP Tuners)
I normally drive with street tires, but prefer drag radials at the track. My rearend, traction bars, drive shaft, etc should be good for 700hp. Just worrying about the trans.
Thank you!
1st track day in Michigan is next week.

I would start your own thread in the transmission section asking these questions.

100k 4l60 is gonna be hit or miss. Mine held up to 400hp and a 4k converter with 6400 shifts no problem. But I have seen them fail at stock power levels/stock converter/stock shift points.
