Default TCI vs. YANK

I am going to step up to a 4400 convertor and was wondering what are the pros and cons between the two. This will be on a stock motor stock cam. Also what would you recommend for an str. It will be a slight daily driver.

I'm partial to TCI.I've had 3 of them with no problems.I just switched to a 4400 and love it.Had to play with the lock-up & shift points with LS1 Edit, but for personal tastes only.I went with TCI due to the cost factor, and great customer service from Kevin.

I am happy with my Yank....see sig for bolt-on times, and this was with 3.42 gears also. Go check out the quickest stock internal list floating around the drag racing forum somewhere, that should help answer your question

it likes it around 2500 rpms, I did not get a custome STR, so I would ASSume its the same as listed on their site which i would say is anywhere from a 2.5-2.7 maybe.

Also, make sure you get some tires

I currently have a TCI 3200 and have just purchase a Yank 4400 in its place. The TCI gave me some good 60' times. I got a 1.67 with ET Streets. I hear the Yank is more efficent and stall at 4400 vs the TCI 4400 which aparently stalls at like 4600, but dont quote me on that. I havent installed the yank yet, so Im not sure how different they feel yet. Good luck with either verter you go with.

I have not made my decision yet but when I looked at the list of the fast bolt on a4's they was only one TCI and the rest were 4000+ Yanks. Dont get me wrong I like my TCI a lot and have cut great 60's with it I am just looking for the convertor that will give me the best time.

Thumbs up

I`ve only made 3 passes with my TCI but I`m very happy with it. Car went (2) 12.3`s and (1) 12.4 spinning out of the hole on all three passes. All I had for mods are in my sig. So far, it`s a thumbs up for TCI in my book. Can`t beat the price either!

For all out racing the YTP 4400 is king of the hill. Just look at who is really fast in bolt-on or h&C and they probably run that converter.

I am very happy with my TCI. And just because there are more Yanks in the fastest internals list doesnt mean that the Yank is better then the TCI. I am going to be in the 11s with stock internals with my TCI soon enough. Goodluck on whatever you decide.

I have cut a 1.49 60'( haven't seen any Yanks do that even the 4400's) and many low 1.5's with my TCI 3800. I can still spray nmine too don't try that with a 4400. Also currently I'm #10 on the bolt-on list with more weight, less suspension, and less HP than most of them on it. Soon to be moving up the list.

the problem is all the really fast bolt on guys (besides BAIN) have big yank stalls. does that mean they make you go faster? no. its because thats the what everyone bought. 6 months ago, someone asked what converter do i get, 99% said YANK. so its not a matter of whats better, but what everyone has. how many people on this site even have a 4000+ TCI converter? i think the TCI bug is going around now because you can get a converter for $500 to your door and not see any performance disadvantages over a $900 yank. And maybe even better customer service at that.

i think BAIN's car is a good representation of the potential of the TCI converters once people start using their larger units.

None of those guys race any more... And that was before the TCI 4400 was available...

While you are searching look up worst customer service and most problematic converter. Yank is king of the hill in that department as well...

I have had a Yank, a Vig and a TCI. The Vig and TCI both were trouble free. The Yank was the biggest friggen headache. I have been running the TCI 4400 for a year now and has been great. No issues what so ever.
