Default Invested in a Junkyard 4l80e

We'll guys like the title says i just made my first purchase on a used 4l80, It has 99k on it out of a commercial Van. It seems like a bunch of people having been doing stuff like this for a while no but no one has really posted up on tech with builds or times so i will let you all no how it goes.

Does anyone have any threads or similar builds with a 4l80? ive been looking at the fastest list and the only (F-body) i can find in the 8/9's is mightymouse's car,

I originally planned on running a th400 with a 2.75 gear but a buddy convinced me to switch up to an over drive unit so i decided id also switch up to a 3.50 gear as well

if anyone has any input on times or tips to get some life out of this trans please let me know car craft did an article and the 80e only weighs like 35 to 40 pounds more than the th400 if i can find it ill post it up

Mine has been living for 2 and a half years now with about 1000hp at the motor. I bought a junk yard unit as well ($250), tore it apart, fixed a couple hard parts inside that didn't look so hot ($170), bought a "HD Rebuild Kit" for it ($100) and put in a Transgo Stage 2 shift kit ($150). Put a good cooler on it and have fun!

Ive used one in my 71 Nova with 650rwhp in stock condition for a year. 10.45's at 132. Building a new combo and picked up another for $400 with 70k on it. Planning on a Transgo HD-2 kit on this one. Yank PY3400 is the golden ticket on these. Well worth the money. Drives like stock and lauches like a rocket. Also picked up a 80E core for $37 at the local pick your parts that Im using for mockup in various cars.

Check out my build in the auto trans section. 4l80 on the cheapo. Covers everything you need. Pm me if you have any questions. I am getting the motor tune in line and gonna start making some power soon and see what happens.

Yes but Jakes kit needs internal mods to operate properly.

Call and talk to him about it but I am pretty sure that he has stated this before.

Things like this is why I want to switch from T56. I went 10's on spray, switched to turbo and had a higher mph but slower time.

I think M6 & A4 driveshafts are the same. This guy says he used his stock driveshaft with a different yoke:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic...l80e-swap.html

I broke the manual at the Shootout so now's the perfect time. I've already started gathering things for the swap.

I'll probably get the harness Frost sells. It doesn't require a segment swap in the PCM & it keeps the converter locked when off the throttle. Seems like a good piece if you need one:
