I was told that one HUGE reason is because if your engine is making too much power on the stock stall your car won't be able to come to a complete stop at red lights and such, it will continue to push through your brakes. lol get the stall, it improves your performance anyways.

this is true, I have (had) a nearly stock LS1 with a MILD!! cam, and it would'nt stand still at a redlight, and I had to mash hard on the brakes to keep it still. Get atleast a 3000 stall but if you really want to feel a blast in your ***, get a 4000 stall. Your car will drive and perform so much better with a stall. They are'nt that hard to put in and you can get them pretty cheap here on tech if you don't mind buying a used one.

Bigger cam usually means higher idle and less vacuum at a lower idle. Combine them and the engine is running at a high enough rpm to ride against the stock converters operating range and decrease in vacuum means you have to push the brakes harder to get the same force.

So the result is a car that wants to push itself through the braking force to move even when you are not on the throttle.

ive heard of guys drilling a 1/16 hole in their tb blade to get it to idle but I would consider that a bullshit fix.... Im assuming there will be no tune either? Seems like a waste of effort to me....

I went with a yank ss3600 and love it. Like mentioned already, if you dont stall, then it will "push thru the brakes". I held off on upgrading the stall when i first did the h&c and it was just a pain in the ***. I would at least go with a 3200 if you are concerned with mpg, I've heard of 4k on a DD, but thats too much of a hit on mpg for me, so I went with 3600

I ran a 228R cam on the stock stall for a year. It SUCKED!!! It was a pig down low. You had to hold the brakes really hard to stop. backing up was a nightmare trying to keep it from dieing. I wish everyone on this forum could have drove it once. We wouldnt have people asking about doing a cam before a stall.

I now have a 4000 stall and very happy.

lol lemons... You hate "stall" and I hate "nawz".. all the guys I work with are always asking me about my NAWZ!! I would have thought after I corrected them 1000 times they would have learned but.. NO!! Another one is when they talk about my cars "motor".. I have told them a million times the Prius has a motor, my car has an engine!!

So I am just used to it being called a stall and now I try not to let it bother me...
